I just got back from a day trip to Chicago and back with no flyscreen and I'm wishing I'd put my Roadracing screen on for it. 400ish miles of stupidly windy freeway is no place for a Speed Triple without at least a tiny bit of lexan to deflect gusts.
Perhaps if it were legal to do 120mph on the freeway here in the States I might have had some fun, but the Statey's wouldn't have approved.
... Didn't help that it was like 50F for most of the trip and I wasn't wearing cold weather gear...
But I'm a MAN, MAN! and we don't need no stinkin' plastic on our bikes! Ride until your spine siezes up, your hands lose all circulation, and you can no longer bend your legs at the knees! Thats how REAL MEN ride!
On second thought, to hell with that. I'd rather be comfortable and be able to ride 10x further than deal with stylistic BS. Sorry if I'm a heretic to the church of nekkid, but I learned long ago that dogging on another person's ride is just a huge waste of energy. A bike is a bike is a bike. Make it yours and get your @$$ on the asphalt!

Martin, Martin, Harsh words indeed !! You say we should listen to the "wise old R100 Pilot". He is howevewr an R100 Pilot! Also an R90 ferchristssakes!! Now, I don't pretend to be some styling icon, but I wouldn't give either garage space. Not only due to the wooden brakes, no performance, handling characteristics of a Winnebago and the fact they were both listed in the worst 100 motorcycles of all time. They are both INCREDIBLY ugly !!
Many people on this forum have 955's with screens and 1050's with screens. Some love em, some hate em. Still a fine, fine motorcycle with or without. Plenty of ugly bikes out there, just ask R100

I had so many great choices when buying my new bike. Thanks to Triumph for making the S3, the choice was easy.
1. I wanted a naked bike. I got it.
2. I wanted great performance on the street. I got it.
3. I wanted a "reasonable" price. I got it.
4. I wanted something that wasn't going to get stolen as soon as I turned by back on it to get a burger. I got it.
O.K., so I nipped and tucked it a little, but that's the way I like it. What anybody does to his/her bike is up to them. They're all beautiful to the eyes of the owner. If and when that feeling fades away it's back to the choices.
Amen!
