Well the owners manual is less than stellar. How are the
head lights supposed to work ? It seems on LOW one is on low and the other is like dimmly lit , sorta like a day time light.
Now when you flash to pass this same dim light goes to high beam. Now on High beams both go high. Is that right ?

Also pre load, factory states 5 up from full in, well mine where
both at 9 turns up ?? Any for sure way to measure ? Or
how much pre load my 225 body should have ?

Thanks for helping out the new brit bike guy.

The lights both work and are just like car lights. They both have a dual filament and are low or hi. The little bulb in the housing is a parking light and only comes on if you turn the key all the way to park.

"Stiff" settings are actually 3 turns out from fill in. Full in is just that. Turn the adjuster in as far as it goes. Make a mark and three full turns (360 degs) is going to be close for your weigh. Though you might need a higher spring rate...

Ok I confirmed, with light switch on LOW I get one low and one park light, is that weird or did someone wire it that way ?

And how much pre load should the front and rear have ?

And how do you adjust the rear ? Any dimmensions or
marks ?

You are missing a relay (located along the subframe rail under the bodywork--there should be 3 relays for the headlights I believe).

In Europe the bikes are set up for one headlight for low beam, the other for high beam. In N.A. both headlights come on for low and high (making the little parking lamp bulbs redundant). Adding 2 relays to the EU bikes will remedy their lighting deficiencies and turn both lights on all the time like N.A. bikes. Your dealer must have left off a relay during setup.

Conversely, I am considering pulling the relay for low beams (so only one is on--just like you) and installing an angel eye in that headlight (already wired up via the parking bulb! ). If you don't know what an angel eye is... think of the "halo" inside of a BMW (car) headlight.

I do get BOTH on high though ? Maybe I have a burned out low on one ?

OK had one of the low beams burned out, all better now.

Now as to how much set my bike should take when I get on I still need the answer. I turned the pre load in 2 more turns and it's now at 7 turns out from bottom and I get a 3/4" drop on the front forks.
