Do you guys ride with full gear on these trips that are posted. I never invested in protective pants. I usually ride with jeans and a protective coat. I see some of these guys by me and they look like a power ranger... Any recommendations on buying a decent pair of riding pants.

I like my MotoGP gear- it's mesh for summer, with armor, and zip out rain protective lining.

Jeans will shred pretty quick if you fall. That being said- I am often lazy and only ride with jeans when just riding around town. For long trips though, I always have full gear.

I have full leathers (they zip together) with a black scorpion helmet and tinted visor and have been called a Power Ranger on several occasion!

I always prepare for the worst and hope for the best. If you go down you will be very thankful for having a full suit.

full leathers for fast rides as denim, skin and bone dont last long when your sliding along at 70+ mph.

i was in US 4 years ago and the girls on the back of bikes ride around in bloody bikinis. would be much left of them if they came off.

On the street I ride in a leather jacket, gloves, helmet, and boots that cover my ankles.

On the track I have the Triumph zip together set up, and Triumph riding boots.

I have crashed on the street with jeans on and the held up a lot better that I even thought they would.

The full gear set up is a great idea if you can get comfortable in them. I can not and feel safer on the street they way I listed above.

screw your ankles! How about covering up those legs with something!!! :hihi:

I ride with helmet, leather jacket, gloves, jeans, and riding boots. However, I am thinking about getting some armoured jeans. Icon makes some pretty cool ones now. I might try to get some before too long.

I'm on the jeans, protective jacket, gloves, full-face helmet and ankle-high boots bandwagon. I have a cruising buddy that rides with lower leg protectors that look like he stole them from Jorge Pasada.

After hearing good things, I just bought a pair of Triumph leather pants. I normally wear Shift "armored jeans" but I thought I'd give these a shot.

Won't be able to tell you anything about them for another week, as I am stuck in Prudhoe Bay at work untill then.

On a side note, I am currently Eight miles offshore, in the arctic ocean, on a wireless connection. Cool.

I always ride with full leathers. On the rare occassions when I wear jeans, I feel naked.

I started out with the U.S standard; jeans, leather jacket, gloves, full helmet and cycle boots but for some strange reason I've begun wearing squid gear this year; instead of leather jacket I put on a hoodie. Dont ask, I dont know why but I do have my Icon back/body protector under it and a-stars elbow/forearm & knee/shin guards.

I think I plumped up over the winter and my jacket is a tad too snug and I'm too slow to purchase a replacement or am not ready to face up to the fact that I am a 4XL in cycle jackets (56). I however cant seem to convince myself to ride in anything but my SIDI vertigo's, I once tried sneakers for 15-minutes and felt so naked and exposed I turned around and got my boots, I wont ride without 'em they just feel too right!

I feel relatively well protected for the local stuff but obviously I'm not as fully protected as I could be; no leather skin (armour underneath), no hip or kidney or shoulder/collarbone protection.

I whole-heartedly agree with others that state there is no better protection than full leathers and makes sense for those longer twisty trips. (Aerostitch a good second choice).
