Has anyone tried this on their 1050 S3? If so, how do you like it, is it really invisible, and is it cut to fit well? All opinions appreciated.

I have the tankslappers film on my bike. It does a good job of protecting the paintwork. They were cut to fit exactly. I did not use the top section as I have a cf protector. It was easy to fit, if you follow the instructions. However, they are not entirely invisible. From some angles you can see the film and it is not crystal clear. it is not really noticable and no one has commented to me about it or asked what it is. I have taken a photo from an angle that makes it look obvious so that you can see the finish, but from most views it is difficult to see.
Cheap to buy, easy to install and it can be removed and replaced as often as you like.

Thanks much John. Doesn't look bad but it does seem to blur the look of the finish a bit. It is cheap enough, however, so if it's not liked it's not too big of a deal.

Yes, I do too. I have the three piece (middle protector and two sides) and love it. It does however leave two small gaps between the two sides and back, which do leave two small vulnerable strips but otherwise great.

On my black S3 you can see them if you look hard enough, also any air bubbles will stand out a lot more. On a yellow S3 they are much harder to see.

Cheers,

Guys - I am in the process of getting a 'protector' made that fits right across the tank - cut to shape of course. It is very simular to the film above but you really can hardly see it. I tried to damage a small sample by pushing a key through it / scratching it and trust me this stuff is VERY strong.

Only downside is it's going to be about a month before I can get back out to fit it but I promise that I will post results etc up ASAP.

I think I am correct in saying that it is an American company with a branch here (new to us) the product is called - Airstream Protective Film, web site is - Airstream UK

They have a FULL S31050 kit listed inc fork protectors, mudgaurd etc. The tank kit they list is just the side pieces which is why we are working on a one piece.

Put mine on last week. Applied and reapplied about 3 times trying to get a clean fit. The bubbles are caused from particles under the film like dirt or lent. PITA to get them all out on the black finish everything shows up. My first application produced a result much like your photo above. Peeled it back off and sprayed the tank down heavily with misty water to rinse off the debris that causes the bubbles. Got as much as I could and looks better but not perfect. But like has been said it is removed in seconds and gives protection so its still a good option.
