hi there,
I don't know if there's an area for presentations, so here I go...

I'm from Portugal and have just bought a '00 Speed Triple in the fastest color available I'm so glad I'm now part of the Triumph community, which in Portugal is really small, although in other countries is so much bigger.

My bike is in mint condition, and I really wanted that model, so I'd like to ask some questions about it, but I'm not sure if I should open specific posts to that... anyway, here's the questions (if no responses are given i'm opening specific posts):

- i haven't got the manuals yet (the previous owner is sending them to me next week) - is there a place where i can download the service guide/manual and user manual?

- i want to buy the passenger seat cowl (in black) - any suggestions where i can find one (doesn't need to be new)

- regarding to the 2000 model, any special issues i'd should take attention to?

- good places on the internet to buy parts?

- do you know any more portuguese people around in RAT.NET ?

heheh, sorry 'bout the ammount of questions...

oh, I forgot to ask one more:

- is there any more beautiful-brutal-better-looking-bike in the world?

Regards

q. i haven't got the manuals yet (the previous owner is sending them to me next week) - is there a place where i can download the service guide/manual and user manual?
a. Yes, coming up.

q. i want to buy the passenger seat cowl (in black) - any suggestions where i can find one (doesn't need to be new)
a. eBay and this sites "for sale" section.

q. regarding to the 2000 model, any special issues i'd should take attention to?
a. recalls I recall: drive chain (problem with link); fuel fittings (problem with leaks); clutch cable...

q. good places on the internet to buy parts?
a. Again, eBay and this site.

q. do you know any more portuguese people around in RAT.NET ?
a. Not personally, but they'll probably pop up now!

q. is there any more beautiful-brutal-better-looking-bike in the world?
a. Triple is trend setter, no?

Hope this helps!

Oh yea, another thing to be aware of is when getting gas, if the tank cap seems stuck (and a California bike), you likely have a faulty EVLS (evaporative loss system, aka evap). Just wiggle key firmly but gently in cap, which will release suction enough to open cap...

If you ever experience suction when opening fuel cap or notice bubbly surface imperfection forming on side of gas tank, now you know why...

If this happens, unplug hoses (on left under-side of tank) to stop suction. Heard people say this will adversely affect performance, but have not experienced that on bikes I've seen with this issue. Again, your bike is likely not equipped with this system unless originally sold in California.

Can't find link to owner manual download btw (lost my copy and link while reformatting computer). Will keep looking till it pops up (or hopefully someone will beat me to it and post link)!

Take it easy!

lol thanks for your friendly messages yeah, i noticed there's another bastard around ehehe. my usual nick on other forums is L4G4RT0 (which means Lizard), but lately I've been using this one.

btw, "bienvenido" is spanish, in portuguese you say "benvindo" (which has such a different way to pronounce from spanish, that I just can't explain you how it sounds) :???:

i will keep looking for the parts around in the net, and when i take some good pictures of my "TUBARONA" i will post it here ("tubarona" is not a real word, it's like a "female shark", which in portuguese should be written "tubarão femea", but of course, TUBARONA sounds much better and it's easier to say) :chug:

Or in Italian...Benvenuto.

I love my '00. No problems. The clutch cable was replaced under warranty some years ago. No other issues. Ride it and enjoy!
