hey Limey, try to get some from a scorched yellow S3, it'll make it faster! :hihi: I know lots of guys on here have switched, but I personally like the stock handlebars. What happened to yours, or are you just wanting a change for comfort or something?

Just changed to Renthal Ultra Lows. Reason for the change was that the bars are black and that the local bikeshop had them in sale. Actually I think the Renthals are quite moderately priced anyway.
As far as dimensions go, I would say the Ultra Lows are exactly as the stock steel bars, but maybe 1/2 inch wider per side. Renthal.com has charts & pics of different bends for comparison purposes.
If you are happy with the stock riding position, I would buy the ones that are available cheaper & faster to you (stock vs. Ultra Low). The Renthals require different barends as the id is ~13mm and the stock bar id is ~18mm.

Well, kind of embarrasing. after a stressful day, went for a quick ride to get some air, turning into a road at approx 25 mph, not paying attention, front wheel hit some fresh road kill, down she went.

mostly damaged pride. very suprised at the lack of damage to the bike. left crank cover scratched, will repair for now get new one at next service. clutch lever, have new ones on order anyway, the handlebars seem slightly out on the left side. the most expensive damage was my new jacket and my new carbon fiber helmet, totally trashed

limey, thank god it was the helmet and not your head.
I got hit from behind by a drunk driver in 1966.
Broke through the helmet plastic and slid until
inside foam was burnt. ( OKay CB --that is how
I got brain damaged  )

I too am in need of new handlebars, as I spiked my bike a few weekends ago. I wasn't injured seriously other than a sore hip and shoulder and neck. My gear did its job! I just ordered new stock handlebars, $92!!! The parts guy said the price of chrome had really gone up, but that's ridiculous! Oh well, c'est la vie.
Is replacing the handlebars a straightforward process?
