so i've had my bike for 2 weeks now. it had 1 mile on the clock before i test rode it and 3 miles on the clock after i test rode it. two days later, i walked into the dealership with the cash because i knew i had to have it. when i picked it up, it still had those original 3 miles. yippee! i went over the 300 mile mark tonight. i've steadily been gaining the courage to twist the throttle just a little bit more everytime i ride. this bike is truly amazing. so much power down low. i rarely ever rev it past 3500rpm. all the power you could possibly need for street riding is available from 2000 to 3500. very very nice. i am quite used to this however. coming from a 1200 sportster, that bike also had an abundant amount of torque down at 2000rpm. but it was not nearly as much fun to ride as this beast!

earlier tonight as i was riding, i was on a 3 lane city road and was in the left hand lane. i noticed a cadillac up ahead and he was hugging the stripes, almost veering into my lane. i was going about 45 in 6th gear and he was probably going somewhere between 35-40. not knowing if this person was drunk or whatever, i gave the throttle a little twist, a bit more than i have been doing, and the bike instantly lunged forward. i was ahead of that cadillac in what seemed like no time at all. after i passed him, i thought about what had just happened. wow.

i will be perfectly honest with all of you. i am scared of this bike. it's an adrenaline pumping chaos causing hooliganized piece of machinary! i can feel the bike trying to tell me, "c'mon baby, twist my throttle...". but i won't give in!

i am now starting to understand why everyone raves about this bike. when i first bought it, i was thinking, "oh yeah, this is a great bike. everyone loves it and raves about it." yet, at the same time, i could not say that for my ownself because i was still trying to figure out just why everyone was raving about it. i think i am starting to get the picture.

Ummm... yeah. I had a good run today and lost my pack for a bit after our breakfast run. Averaged probably 90-120 and gave my new set of Powers a good scrubbing in through all those corners. I think they're good to go for the Dragon trip this week after that run.

With a good set of sticky tires you can easily take corners at double the recommended speed. Don't be afraid to move your ass around in the seat. You'll be amazed how much of a difference a little weight shift to one side or the other will increase your turn-in when hitting the twisties.

Yeah dude, its just amazing how much low end torque these things have. I got mine after riding for 3 years on a YZF 600R and then a Speedmaster. Nothing compares to the smile my S3 puts on my face each time I twist her throttle.

I recently noticed the huge blue flame my eagle slipons throw out the back at night and slightly adjusted my mirrors to be able to catch a glimpse every now and again.

Anyway, congrats on your S3 and keep putting miles on her!

I know what you mean about the bike telling you to twist the throttle a little bit more, it's amazing how the character of a bike seems to encourage you to do it. Use the Jockey technique or riding on the balls of your feet, using your thigh muscles and get yer as* off the seat and shift your weight and body into the twisty-bits, the way the bike handles and feels at home flingin' the corners is wicked indeed, it's a hoot.

Try to take your time and get familiar with everything, it's fun in the extreme but 3500rpm doesnt even begin to 'wet the beak', wait 'til you have her singing at 7k in 3rd approaching your favorite sweeping curve. :-D ..after the break-in period is complete of course.

:hihi: know exactly what you mean, tekmoe! :hihi: Although, I figured it out the day I test rode it! I love hearing about people's experience's! Heck, I still feel the same way, and I've had mine for 6 months now!!! :-D
