Recently my bike is becoming harder and harder to get into first gear. Its only done 2000 ish miles. Is this a common problem / normal / something I should go to dealer about?

Ta in advance.

Changed my oil at 800kms ans went with 20- something semi synth Silkolene, Mostly smooth upshifts occasionally a hard one, never occured prior change. Just waiting for a few more miles under the belt and will go with Trumpet Mobil 1 full synth if dealer can get hold of the lube. Seems Hinckley has run out of the stuff.

Just finished taking the backlash out of the gear change and applied a generous amount of moly grease to the pivot and ball joints. Too knackered to try it out.

Peter 247 make sure your clutch is disengaging completely, try a 10w/40 rather than 15w/50 oil. Check that the gear linkage is not binding anywhere and lube.

Best regards to Crawley, Gatwick and West Sussex in general............

Get your your wrench and adjust the clutch. Two nuts near the clutch actuator arm on the lower right side of the motor. The little spinner on the lever end is mostly to adjust slack. Keep in mind your cables will stretch over time.

check your shift linkage. the 05+ use a linkage with ball/socket joints and there have been several cases (myself included) where the stud/nut for one of the joints had come loose causing lousy shifter feel. If its bad enough it may interfere with the footpeg bracket.
