I went to our local bike night last night(something I very rarely do, went once last year), because a couple of my buddies talked me into it. I must say, I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I still don't think I'll make it a routine weekly thing, but maybe once a month or every other month. I was really surprised at the attention the ol' S3 got amongst all of the customs and chromed out Harley's! There was probably atleast 150 bikes there, and mine was the only Triumph that I saw, and I know it was the only S3 there! :-D There were a handful of sportbikes, prolly 20 or so, and none of those got the attention of the S3. I was actually surprised at how many Harley guys come up to me, and knew what it was("How you like that new triple?"). Needless to say, had a great night last night, and even put on a little show for all watching when we left! Picked her up in 1st around 15-20mph, and actually switched to 2nd(for the 1st time!!!), and carried it on out of site! :-D So anyways, long story short, if any of you have a local bike night in your area, get out and enjoy it every now and again. It may be more fun than ya think! I know I did! :-D

Later.

That's awesome CB...I just bought a Triple and haven't had a chance to get it to a Bike Night here in Tampa but even when I used to take my cruiser, a Victory V92C, a lot of Harley guys were interested (some trash talk it as the Harley knockoff). I think alot of the Harley guys now were Triumph owners or want to be owners back in the day and still wish that even though they can now buy ground coffee with the same name as their machines they secretly wish they were on a Triumph and after a while just anything different.

Super awesome about the one wheel shift...I was looking at one of the wheelie schools online yesterday but unfortunately missed the dayes here in FL.

PS - Hello to the board...my first post and a new Triple owner.

CB,

where did you go Ted's? Hooter's?

Also, your bike didn't happen to be parked off of Patetrson Ave yesterday morning was it? Someone from my office saw a yellow S3 there yesterday and was raving about it.

hmmmmmmm...............

yep, that be me! It's actually off of Indiana where I work(it's sitting out in the rain right now, it was clear when I left this morning! ). But I went to Ted's last night, then left and went to Hooters to eat. We lucked up at Hooters, they were having a bikini contest and we didn't even know it until we got there! :-D

Glad to hear about the responses you were getting. I figured that would be the case before I picked mine up. I ride a lot with my friends on sport bikes and with family members on Harleys. I showed up at a few Harley bike nights with my R6 and certainly got some looks. None that good. I figured the Triple is going to look good rolling with either crowd now.

Oh, and btw, welcome kdriven! I've heard great reviews about On One Wheel school. Is that the one you were checking out? I know Kajota on here has taken that school. I met him up at Deal's Gap a few weeks ago, and he was telling me about it. Enjoy your S3!!! :-D

Btw, still got your Victory??? I love Victory's. I'd love to have me a Kingpin! You ought to see what my local dealer has done with a Kingpin. He put a Vegas rear fender on it, and a Hammer front fender on it, It looks sweeeet with the smaller fenders. Everything else is standard Kingpin. He said the fenders were a direct swap! I likes it alot! :-D

Still have the Victory for sure...paid it off, that was the reasoning for the S3 purchase! I have the Classic Cruiser which they don't build anymore, I've stripped it of pretty much everything I could, no passenger seat, no reflectors, no bags, no tank badges...going to move from the stage 1 kit to the overbore stage 2 and keep it forever. It's fast, loud, and super nimble, a very nice cruiser and now even more unique than before because they built it for only 4 or 5 years. I do like the kingpin...I hope they are using better chrome these days!

On One Wheel was exactly the school and they were in Lakeland this weekend! Everything else on their schedule seems to be out in CA for the most part. Maybe I'll make a trip out there to the school. I'm new to sport bikes and love to get things rolling on my criuser so I want to get into some wheelie and track schools with my S3. Already bought some boots, gloves, and leather, and even ordered a Hit Air jacket just for good measure.

Thanks for the welcome!

I went to the One Wheel School back in May last year in New Jersey, It was sweet and I did really well...until I dumped the bike  . First time I've ever dumped a bike, ever.

I was at 'level 4' on that 'safety device' they use and was under the impression that if I got too high it would kick in and apply the rear brake and disable the cylinder and put me back down.

During the day, I developed a comfortable dependancy on that device so I was under the impression it was okay not to cover the rear brake yourself and not regulate your throttle control too much, I got 'er up and she kept coming up, I got 'er to 12-o'clock but I was still leaned back a bit so instability was a factor but none of the safety features did a ***** thing to restrict how high I went and down I went. I damaged the sator cover and sator, and shift lever. I was baffled as to why the device didnt put me down before I got that high, but it would seem that it you cant overcome physics :-D .

We talked a bit afterward and the impression I got was that you were up making power, even though a cylinder was disabled the throttle was still applied so I was still making power on 2 and so kept going up, I was at a level where I should have been using throttle-control while executing my wheelie, I wasnt informed of this before hand.

Only consolation was that I didnt dump my own bike and only had a minor sprain on my right wrist, my feet felt nothing (yay to SIDI). It's fun, you get to wheelie all day long on someone elses bike there are plenty of snacks and drinks, you meet cool people as crazy as yourself, just be sure to use some of your own knowledge when you get to the higher levels, I made the mistake of total reliance on the safety device at a level where it's effectiveness is limited, at lower levels that sucker will kill your wheelies as advertised.
