Am I the only one tired of this question? I've decided to start answering, "It's a Buell with 30 extra HP", or "This is what Buell will be building in about 20 years".

I never got that question with my 03, BUT with my 06 I get it too. The 05 and 06 Triples do resemble the Buell with there short sub frame/tail section.
Just tell them there is no way it is a Buell for many reasons:
1. more style
2. faster
3. more reliable
4. faster
5. sound better
6. more reliable
7. did I mention faster???

:hihi: I get that some too! Some people just ask what it is, and I tell them, and they are like, "never heard of it!" :-D I kind of like it like that! Heck, some fellow motorcyclists I've met don't know what it is! Hey, they don't know what they're missing! :-D

Heh, I get the occasional retard that asks while staring at the tank, "Hey is that that new Honda?"

Got a friend with an old '70s Daytona 500 who says it ain't a real Triumph 'cause the shifter and clutch are on the wrong side. And there's not a puddle of oil underneath it wherever it's parked.
Most people just kinda scratch their heads and look at ya crosseyed when ya tell 'em it's got three cylinders.
But I've ridden BMWs for years. "I didn't know BMW made bikes" is pretty common, so I'm used to being considered weird.

The most common dialogue I get is this:
Cager: "What kind of bike is that?"
Me: "It's a Triumph Speed Triple."
Cager: "Cool, what year is it."
Me: "2006."
Cager: "I didn't know Triumph still made bikes."
Me: "Yep they still do."
Cager: "My (Grandpa) (Dad) (Friend) (Whoever) used have one of those years ago, but I am not sure what kind."
Me: "Was it a Bonneville?"
Cager: "Yes, I think it was."
Cager: "That thing looks pretty fast, what size engine is it?"
Me: "It's a 1050cc 3 cylinder."
Cager: Puzzled look on face trying to figure out if motors really can have 3 cylinders with an eventual reply of "Cool."
Me: See ya as I roll on the throttle and leave them with the sweet sound of the triple roaring down the road................

No one ever talks to me.
No, seriously.
I'm a nice enough guy and all but I get no comments what so ever.

My Bike says TRIUMPH on the tank in big blue letters on a white background- maybe some people can read but it appears most cannot!!

I get that strangely puzzled look on peoples faces (almost always twenty-somethings riding fared sportbikes...go figure) and you can see that they have no clue and are trying to figure out what it is, generally trying to fit it into the big 4 japanese context no doubt.
When I go down south (South Carolina), for some reason I keep gettin' "is that a ducati?", couldnt figure that one out.
