I did my first overnighter on the S3 last weekend and look forward to more. I need info about pro's/con's of Triumph brand soft saddle bags and tank bag. Anyone? Thanks. Dave

The tankbag is good on the Speed Triple, but doesn't work so well if you have clipons (or a Daytona) since the edge of the bag digs into your chest. As far as the saddlebags, I've always found soft saddlebags to be a royal pain in the ass. I would go for a quality tailbag as they're much more useful.

I have a set of Chase Harper "STEALTH" Bags I got off of Dennis Kirk. They work awesome.

I have a Tour Master tail bag. I took off the bungee cords and run a strap from the bag under the seat. It works well, looks clean and doesn't' rub the paint.

I am using a set of CARGO endurance profiled throwovers on my tripple, they work well and are pretty reasonably priced, you can fit lots of crap in them to :-g

I personally love my ventura pack system that I bought for my 96 triple as soft side bags ride too hard on the side covers. and the ventura system works great in place of a passenger. I guess I am lucky in that regard as my wife rides her own bike. Close to 10,000 miles of road trips on these packs and no complaints!

I don't know about the Triumph brand bags but I just bought soft saddle bags and a tail bag by Cortech and they work awesome. They've got the neoprene paint protectors on the undersides and they don't move even with a full load in the twistys. About $200 for the whole set. So my wife was happy about that.

I like the RKA seatbag. It has a unique (AFAIK) mounting system that attaches to the seat so it can't scratch the paint. No one ever rides on the back seat so I just leave it attached to the seat and switch it out for the seat cowl when I need it. Holds a lot too!
