Any of you knowledgeable types have any clue why a 99 s-3 with 3200 original miles would all of a sudden after a two hour ride start dying like it was running out of gas?It will idle no problem and after start up you can roll on throttle for about two seconds and it sounds normal but then just dies again. Its like as soon as you load it or come of idle it dies like a fuel filter has gone bad or something.Where is the fuel filter?Im thinking with only three thousand miles it shouldnt be bad.Kinda clueless If I could fix ,id unload it from truck,I dont want to take to dealer unless I have to.

Inside the tank... behind the fuel fitting plate on the right side of the tank...

Wooden, it does sound fuel related, and it could either be a vacuum problem, Fuel pump, or fuel filter/line blockage.

The fuel filter is in the tank I think, but haven't got my manual with me at the moment, so can't look for you. That's where I'd start though.

If it's a vacuum, you would know if you got a big sucking sound when you opened the fuel cap.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Mick

Sounds like 3,000 miles on a 99 is your problem, lol. Check all your rubbers, filters, and crusty bits!

Did you try and ride the bike after it cooled down? Did the engine light come on?
