i am 5'6 (maybe) and sitting on a new S3 in the showroom i was on my toes.

i currently ride an sv650 and im able to either get one foot solidly planted on the ground or the balls of both feet down. either way i feel solid, but being on the toes isnt so comforting.

i have plenty of riding experiance but i can just see tooling around some parking lot at 5mph and dropping that gorgeous S3 because i cant get my feet down.

anyone out there my size successfully dealing with an S3?

Balls of both feet touch down at the same time? What a luxury, try just one!
But then, my S3 has problems keeping both wheels on the ground too, so we were made for each other

If you do have to have both feet flat on the ground try and find that thread regarding a Hagon rear shock replacement which appears to lower the rear by as much as 5cm. How the altered geometry will affect the handling on twisties remains to be seen. We'll hopefully find out when Trackerguy takes it out after May 6th so stay tuned.

Okay, I don't consider myself vertically challenged at 5'8" - 175lbs but only the tips of my boots touch if I am seated directly on the bike.

I do the side step lean at full steps. If I am lucky the road has tires ruts and both feet touch perfectly. :-D

Both the Harley and Thruxton I previously owned fit just right but hey...they weren't an S3.

I think in the case of the S3, size doesn't matter.

Ride on!

5-6" here as well and i get my tous on the ground...
i also had an sv650 (still do!!) that i had a custom seat made for to lower me a bit more even......
i have to admit- not having tons of experience- i do feel a bit high on the s3
i love the bike but have been looking into ways to lower it to get more comfortable
i had not heard of that new shock- i look forward to hearing about it.
i have contacted sargent about having a seat customixed to give me about an inch.....

I'm 5"8 and can flat foot my 03. I'm up on the balls of my feet on the 05+. As long as you drop the front an equal amount as the rear, handling shouldn't be much different. Reduced ground clearance is more of an issue for dropping the bike down a few cm.

yo cyclesnoopy

I am 5'6" and could only just get the tips of my toes on the ground - just at the point of cramp - which is why I opted for Hagon 50mm lower shock, it doesn't effect the handling of the bike at all and I feel a lot safer coming to a stop knowing I'm not going to drop it. (and don't forget to get an inch taken out of your sidestand if you do it)

There are 2 main posts on the Hagon shock swap, just do a search for Hagon and you will find them.

Nothing I repeat NOTHING was going to stop me owning this bike, do it and you will love it.

Has anyone tried turning the rear chain adjuster through 90 degrees? That should lower the bike somewhat at the rear whilst maintaining the same chain tension. One guy over here did it successfully to his trumpet.

I guess I am not as short as I thought I was, cause I can just barely flat foot the bike at a stop. I have an 03 I am assuming all the years are the same seat height.

I got back from my business trip early But plan to wait
to put the tank/seat/side covers back on until I get
the new headlight buckets ( unless the backorder is
too long in which case I will go to Plan B ). I am going
to check the backorder tomorrow.
However I note Gnome thinks the handling is good.
I am going to try to make precise measurements for
rake and trail.
