Looking at buying a S3 but whats the difference between a 509, 955 etc.
Want a single sided one, and have read the S3 issues but it doesn't tell me the differences.

If I'm not mistaken, the T509 ran for 2 years--it had the 885cc engine. '99 model year switched to the 955 motor--much more power. '02 saw a new version of the 955--different castings & more power; also new body work. I've had my '01 since new & now have almost 24k miles on it. Best bike I've ever owned--probably won't ever sell it--it's that good. The S3 in my opinion pretty much has it all--power, torque, rider-friendly position & unique styling. I'm always getting compliments on mine--it stands out. You can tour on it, carve through the twisties & commute--I've done it all. Go for it; you won't be sorry!

Bugz, have you done any mods to your bike? Yours looks bone stock in that pic. There are Tons of aftermarket parts that make the S3 very cool! I don't know what else to do to mine!

Actually guys, that pic "looks like me." It's a Triumph stock photo. I've tried to post my pic from the S3 photo album, but can't seem to get it to work. Dwarf, I believe the helmet is an Arai from '01; supposedly sold by Triumph.
BTW, my black '01 has the CF hi-mount exhaust, fly screen, seat cowl, union jack valve stem covers, hugger & 24k miles! STILL IN LOVE!
