I've got a Garmin 2720 with a RAM mount. I'll post some pics tomorrow when the sun is out. I just worked my ass off with my fiance's brother (6-1am) to get my Mad Doctor kit mounted so I have visible turn signals (had to fabricate a custom bracket), respliced the power cable to the GPS since it was a bit loose and resetting the GPS whilst going over bumps, and buffed out fuel marks from my nice new flat/satin black paint.

Overall, I love having a GPS on a bike. I'd prefer a hard mount to the front of the tank or in place of the guage cluster, but the handlebar mount works fine.

$600-$1000 for that system? I would love one, but I can't justify spending that much money compared to a few $3 maps!

Heh, I've used it on every major road trip I've gone on and saved a LOT of time not getting lost, finding gas stations, restaurants, etc right away rather than having to guess. I think it was a really good investment, especially considering its waterproof and has a 4 year replacement warranty. I put a mount in the car so I can just swap it back and forth as I need it.

I have a tank bag with a clear map pocket. I don't mean to sound like a smart alec, but I just put my Garmin handheld unit in that. It works pretty well. No audio, but that would interfere with my MP3 player anyway.

Garmin Quest2... Don't even think about a unit with a internal hard disk.. I tried to use my Lowrance I-Way and a couple of others on the Triumph and was not successful.. It was either the vibration or RFI but the two models I tried either rebooted or shut down..
Good choices would be the Garmin Quest, Quest2 or the 2610. The Quest motorcycle mount is really solid and the unti itself is battery powered and small enough to remove and slip into a large cellphone case.. I've got a RAM mount on the clutch lever clamp, perfect position.

Oh, forgot to mention TomTom has a brand new motorcycle-specific GPS that is an awesome toy! The thing actually hooks up to your cell phone and shows caller ID on the screen when you have an incoming call. I think it comes with a headset and it has an internal battery so you can take it off the bike and walk around with it. Pretty cool GPS. Saw the Twisted Throttle guys demo it at Daytona Bike Week. If I get another GPS and give the 2720 to my fiance (soon to be wife next month) I'd get something like that.

also just got a garmin quest 2 and tech-mount set up.
here we go, the tech mount is a chrome unit and works great with the garmin.
i don't have it powered yet, but have the equipment. not sure if i will power it, maybe eventually. the garmin cradle has a nice lock feature that ensures it not popping off on the road.
