WOW. That is spooky. I checked my tank on the bike and I also have a spare tank I bought used and no sign of the blistering. I will keep an eye on it. I can't imagine that an engineer didn't check for reaction between the gas and bladder plastic. Maybe that guy put in an additive for his gas or something equally stupid.

Hi Leggeman, not sure what the scoop is..but its a little disheartening as I was just on the priller board conveying how nice I thought the new speed triple was after my test ride...I haven't read about this being a problem on the s3 though so maybe it's just the 675.

My '05 tank is fine after 1 year and 12000km.

If it was all 675s I am sure this would have come up on the magazines already, especially if the paint peeling happens so early on. Must be just one batch of tanks or just the one guy who has done something funny with his tank.

People saying a 675 isn't what its cracked up to be on an Aprilia forum? No way! What a shocker!...

He's full of $#!7.

I've never heard of lining a tank with anything that'll flake off or bubble up like that. I'm thinking he's using a non-standard something in his tank. Did they switch to metal tanks all of a sudden after using plastic for years? If they did, why the hell would they line the tank with anything? The fuel and fumes keep it from rusting...

My question is: Why does the 675 have a metal fuel tank at all? Or does it? I've only seen one, and I didn't look that closely.

It doesn't make sense. The 600/650 Daytona's had plastic tanks, why would they suddenly make a change?

Dunno, the thread was started by a guy who just took delivery of his 675, so I don't think it's a guy just trying to trash Triumph. He posted that he only had a few miles on it and had yet to even put fuel into it...

I wasn't trying to start any discontent with the post, just trying to find out if anyone had this problem with the speed 3 as I am considering one.

asked at the local dealer and they said they have had no problems with either bike the s3 or the 675?(cleveland akron honda) i have a older model but have never had any problems with my tank. just go up to the dealer and buy one they are great bikes. and i have had great service from the above dealer with any problems i have had.throtle cable broke they took one off a bike on the floor and put it on my bike right then. good shop as far as that goes.

Yes it does have a metal tank. A member of my local Trumpet group just got hers (yup....hers) the other week. I sat on it last Thursday - very nice (not for me, but very nice)
