I am planning on ordering a seat cowl for my "new" 2002 s3 and have a question, while scrolling through pictures it seems like the cowl changed several times, which one is best for my bike, i kinda think the 02 version is too tall toward the rider, does the 04 version fit just as well? is there a better looking, i.e. sleeker version available?
thanks for any help, sorry if this is an old question, i can't get the hang of the search function on this site for some reason
jon
p.s. blue flame carbon can on the way, can't wait, i'll post pics for any of the "old model" s3 owners to enjoy

Cooks - you're correct. The cowl on the '02s are taller, with more of a hump. The cowls for the 03-04s were flatter...
Either style will fit, depending on your preference...
I have the taller version on my '02...

I have one of each I could sell you. Both are black and have minor scratches, but it wouldn't cost much to repaint them whatever color you want.

Actually, I believe the '04 is the only "flatter" year and the '02 and '03 are the same (higher hump).

Do the 02 and 04 offer the same room? I kept bumping the one on my 02 with my skinny butt and had to keep pulling over to reinstall it.
Looked great!
Ton Up!

The 02/03 cowl I got on ebay had a chopped up bottom to it. I dont know what the hell the guy was thinking, but it made the cowl not fit securely enough to not get bonked crooked at the first wheelie. I have a good bottom on the shorter 04 cowl. Overall, I'd recommend new hardware or some modification to the 02 cowl.
I'd sell both as a set with both bottoms for probably $80 or so, shipping included. I have no use for them or my stock tail section since I swapped out to the t595/t509 and don't plan to go back.

Kuhlka, I'd be interseted in the shorter of the two cowls if you decide to sell them seperately. Oh, I looked at some of the pics of your S3. I like it. That's the look I'm going for also. Carbon fiber. Cool. Thanks

Lol, well it seems I have one person wanting each cowl so I might as well sell them separately. I have some ideas of what could be done to fit the 02 cowl a bit better. Lemme get the parts together and shoot some PMs back and forth. $50 each sound fair?
Also, I have both a stock and gel front seat available for the 02-04 and my stock rear seat, tail plastics, and maybe some more stuff for anyone interested. All of which I'll sell cheap. Need money for the upcoming wedding next month and need to clear out my parts locker.

Sounds reasonable to me. Can you post some pics of the cowl and othe stuff? I may be interested in the gel seat and maybe even more. Oh, congrats on the upcoming wedding.
