I'm looking at the CRG lane split mirrors for the bike, as I loved the look of bar end mirrors on my 2001 S3 5 years ago. Does anyone know whether I can use the clamp on version on both sides, just the left side, or on neither side? I'd prefer to keep my bar end weights if possible, so the version that goes inside the bar is less desirable to me. Will I need to grind off a tab on the switch blocks in order to slide everything to the center in order to make room for the clamp on?

The mad doctor fender eliminator kit seems to be the best solution for getting rid of all the plastic. Anyone got any pictures from the side? The only one I've found is taken from the rear. I want to know exactly what it is going to look like before I commit that kind of cash to an eliminator kit.

Does the triumph flyscreen have any effect on airflow at all? My previous naked bikes (S3 with flyscreen and Tuono) both had just enough wind management that I could crack my visor open on cold mornings without getting my eyes blasted out of their sockets. My '05 S3 causes way too much air to go into the my eyes when I crack my visor, but I am fogging up at every traffic light. Annoying.

Thanks.

While I'm at it, can someone recommend some frame sliders? I've learned the hard way that it is wise to get frame sliders installed as soon as possible on a new bike.

I usually do solid mount rearsets, at least one frame slider, and swingarm sliders. Between those 3 points, it usually keeps the bike up of the ground. I'd prefer something that works with the look of the bike. I've found some (skyking) but they seemed excessively long in the pictures.

In case you're not aware of it, Sky King makes a nice fender eliminator kit. I have and like it, but I have no experience with the Mad Doctor kit.

A little, but not much. I've taken mine off, for the time being, as I prefer the look of the bike without the flyscreen. Besides, a little extra windblast makes it easier to keep my freeway speeds closer to the limit. I like to save my tickets for worthwhile speeding on back roads.

I second Curmudgeon's motion on the SkyKing fender eliminator. At less than $80 USD, and with no bike mods to make (no wiring changes or cuts...just bolts on), you can't go wrong.

As far as sliders go, my research led me to the R&G Racing Sliders (front mount...just behind the rad) from the UK, because they looked to do the job without sticking out obscenely far.

The flyscreen only makes a little difference. It raises the windblast from about navel level to chest level, and allows you to tuck in behind if you care to become intimate with the gas tank.

Well, since no one else answered question #1: I've got my CRGs clamped directly to the stock bar ends with no problems. Some locktite or a black rubber band will add some insurance against the fasteners vibrating loose. Hasn't happened yet, but I hate the idea of leaving a $60 mirror out on the interstate.

Here are a couple of pictures of the CRG LS mirrors mounted on an '06.
