I am kickin around new bike idea's and the contenders are:

s3
monster
tuono
superduke

www.990superduke.com has a great video of the superduke in action...anyone ridden it, or any of the others and the s3 that can make a comparo..

I had a tuono and loved it but I really don't care for the looks of the tuono...All was forgiven though once underway..the bike rocked..I'm sure the new one is just as good..if not as ugly.

Always wanted a monster, never got one..still like them..had a 98 t595, had the normal problems, wiring harness melted leaving me stranded...never did run right..f.i. issued..

Too bad I can only afford one...I'm really thinking I'm going to wait till the superduke arrives here in the states before I do anything...Thanks for any advice.

Steve

The superduke is definitely a great looking, unique bike. However, good luck finding one. My local KTM dealer had no clue when he would get one. I also considered the SD and the S3. I went with the S3 and won't look back. I love my S3.

KTM dealers are very thin on the ground in the south east of England, and the tanke range is reputedly about 80 miles to reserve. As a result of these two things, residuals will suffer.

The Speedy doesn't have fancy dual damping suspension, but (contrary to many press reports) I think it's better built, has a more linear power delivery and offers similar performance/handling for similar money - but is largely regarded in the press as class leading, and coupled with good dealer network, and along with Harley and Ducati, a strong brand image, is enough to secure a similar riding experience, with slightly more practicality and better resale. It's suffice to make most choose the Trumpet.

Yis pays yis monies and yis takes yis choice etc.

I also was looking at a KTM SD but decided against it. I have owned previous KTMs and they are built great, but the issue I had was it would be 4K more out the door than the speed triple.

I started looking at a yamaha FZ1 2006, but the dealers couldn't seem to get them in and the one they had probably had like 200 miles on it from everyone test driving it. I then found the super duke but I didn't want to wait 2 years for it to come to america. I almost didn't look at the Triumph because I figured oh, from Europe its going to be really expensive. Well I figured I would get the KTM and then I seen the price and went wow. that is more than I really wanted to spend. So after looking at other bikes that were simular to the FZ1 and KTM, I decided to take a look at the Triumph. Well long story short everything I heard and read bragged them up. I am here to say its all true, the Triumph is the best bike I have ever owned and I don't regret it for a second.

Don't get me wrong I love KTM, but I think some of their bikes are in such demand they have a little Harley pricing going on. Also consider that the KTMs are a little harsher bike from my experience. IE if you are not running it really hard its not going to be as an enjoyable bike.

The KTM is a beautiful all out racing machine. I would like to have one! Black of course.

Vsteel; you made the right decision. The new Fazer is less practical/comfortable and too revvy. Yamaha madde the same mistake with their 600 Fazer too - you'd think they'd of learnt wouldn't you?

BTW - Like Triumph, KTM is also a 'European' manufacturer from Austria!

Funny, KTM's are easy to come by in Oz. My local dealer has black and orange on the floor. S3 still difficult to get here. Maybe it's just because people here have better taste  . KTM looks cheap at the side of the Triumph.

Yea, KTM is from europe. I should have wrote it better, but when I said European I was thinking more of a pricing demographic than geographic. Or just said Ducati pricing.
