All you guys with the bellypan on your 1050 S3's, have any of you had problems with dragging that thing??? I was cleaning my scoot up this morning, and noticed I have some serious scrape marks on the underneath lh side all the way back to right at the kickstand. I wouldn't think this would be an issue, but I'm now thinking of taking it off. I've never heard it actually touch down, but all I can figure is the last time I rode, I did touch down my lh peg, and maybe that's when it scraped? Just curious if anyone else has noticed this issue. Thanks in advance!

upon further inspection, I'm not sure if that was my peg touching the other day, that awful sound and vibration may have just been the bellypan? :???: I can't find any scrape marks on the peg whatsoever, so I don't think it was that touching down, probably was just the bellypan. I'm now definately thinking of taking the bellypan off, sucks to spend that $ on it and not have it on there though. It is fairly beat up with nicks after just 2000 miles too. How many of you guys run with the bellypan, and how have you noticed it standing up to wear and tear???

CB,

You sure you have that mounted correctly? When I had mine, there was no way it was dragging without me going with it. Seems odd, or could you have hit something?

Ya know, come to think of it, I only had my belly pan on for a short time this winter, so it never really got pushed too hard. I wonder if this is indeed an issue? I sold mine very shortly after I got it. I might have only had 100 miles on it...

Yes i have major damage on my belly pan. I'll send some pic's. As like you cheapbastard i didn't realise i had done anything until it came to cleaning the bike - i had no bolt holding the rear left side on. See my post i made a month ago for the full story.

Any Melbourne 1050 owners with a belly pan out there?

FYI i have fixed it up, just looking around now to see who's going to respray it.

Ok for those that are interested in my first attempt at fairing repairs, here you go.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

sorry to bore you with these but i'm quite proud of the result. Just need to get it painted now. Think i will let the pro's do that though...

thanks for your responses guys. Geof, I'm 99% sure I got it mounted right, but I'll double check with the directions again. Yes, I'm actually one who follows directions! I have inspected the bike fairly well now, and the only places I've found are on the bellypan. So as I stated before, now that I realize that, I definately heard it touch down and drag, it was just so much grindage, and vibration feeling, I thought it was the peg! I'll see if I can't post a pic or two up tonight or tomorrow. I didn't think it would hit before the peg, but apparently so. I don't think it's a huge issue, because it's only hit once, and it was when I had my game face on and was giving her all I had on my favorite road that I know like the back of my hand! Anyways, thanks for the feedback. I'm going to leave it on for now, I'm going to Deal's Gap in 2 days, so I'll test it out up there. If it doesn't hit up there, then I just got "lucky" if you want to call it that, and now just have some bragging rights of the "character" those scrape marks add! But you can't even see them unless you get underneath the bike. I'll let you know how she does at Deal's! :-D

yeah slo1 here , I have dragged the belly pan on my 05 s3. Made an horrible noise, and cut the lower radiator hose too. Some back ground on what happened. I was at a cornering school at phillip island grand prix curcuit , and i could hear this scrapping noise in the turns for a few laps just thought it was the pegs but i couldn't feel them moving up so i pushed on and a couple of laps after that i heard the scrape louder than what it had been , next thing i know the motor spools up on the revs and i'm flying through the air.......That was my first highside on a road bike. The belly pan was the first thing to touch down, oh well i know for next time .
