Finally getting some new rubber on the S3 and was wondering if anyone has had the same experience as me. I noticed that the front tire was smoked in comparison to the rear. I'm not super aggressive on the throttle but still thought the rear would wear faster. I had the same issue on my last street bike so I don't think this is a bike issue. Is this normal or just bad technique?

Nice to see the weather will be in the 40's when I have the new tires installed. Ohio weather can really blow.

I've always had just the opposite, Chaz. As a matter of fact, I don't know of anyone really, that gets better mileage from their rear tire. :???: That's very odd.

I have to usually have to replace the front at the same time as the rear. It's not as worn as the rear, but it wouldn't make it until the next rear wore out.

Excessive stoppie practice in the snow over in Cleveland? My current Pireli Diablo Corsa front tire has like 6 or 7,000 miles on it and its just now turning to ***** grip-wise. Still has a good shape, but its just not grabbing like it did for the first 5,000.

Mine are about to go next week. About 5k on the set, basically even wear overall. No flat spots, minor cupping. Rear is worn fairly evenly through the tire, with a slight amount of squaring in the center...

Have you checked the pressure in the front - I had the very same thing happen on my Hornet and it turned out to be slightly under pressure (for a good few thousand miles  )

Mine is just the opposite. I get 4-5k per tires on the S3. I always replace them together. I do run lower air pressure 34-35 F and 36-37 R. The recommended is 36/42.

I am not too worried about mileage, I want performance. I save the mileage for my BMW.

Take care!

Back in the day I ran Metzler something-or-others on a Yamaha XJ600. Those things were nail magnets. I put on three new sets in two months before I switched to Bridgestones. I never had another problem. I think it was just something about the tread pattern.
