So I want to put about $400 of my tax refund from Uncle Sam into my '02 Speed Triple... I realize that a smarter person would put that refund into an IRA, but I want to have some fun... Any suggestions?

Here's the list of mods/accesssories that've already been completed over the years:

Flyscreen
CF tank protector
Gel seat
Hi-mount CF exhaust & tune
CF side panels
Fresh set of Avon STs

I've narrowed the list of possiblities down to include:
Buell short stalk turn signal swap
Fender eliminator
Bar-end mirrors
Adjure ice headlight swap
CF front fender

What do you guys think?

The fender is going to be the most expensive of that group, but give the biggest appearance plus. If you've got a silver S3 it'll really set off the front end nicely.

I wouldn't bother with a fender eliminator as you can trim up the fender to look really nice and not uglify the undertail with any oops's. Spend money instead on a good dremel with flex attachment to trim the fender.

Adjure Ice headlamps look nice, but if you're really looking for a swap, check out the alien fairing I posted up in the aftermarket post. That thing is just HOT and comes with dual projector headlamps for around $450 after conversion from euros.

I like bar-end mirrors, but at the same times I sometimes wish I had those roadracing mirrors I see on the parts4naked site. Very simple and clean, and I wouldn't have to worry about smacking my mirrors on stuff as I pass, or possibly destroying the mirror if I have a nasty drop (inevitable I guess) and my frame sliders don't save em.

Signals? I went with triangular LED signals which are VERY bright and VERY visible. They tuck in nicely to the rad cowls and blink quickly. I don't mind the fast blinking because LEDs go from 0-100 brightness almost instantly. Regular bulb signals blink slower because it takes longer for them to light on and off. I'd go with those tiny Kellerman LED signals I've seen somewhere. Tiny and tucked, but the LEDs are ultra bright so you'll still be noticed.

I spent some of my tax return on my 02 S3. I got Dynomite Carbon fiber radiator covers, rizoma sprocket cover ,rizoma front brake resevoir, rizoma oil cooler cover, beowulf radiator protector and pazzo levers. My wife calls it my winter/spring senseless spending spree. Money well spent.

I would do

Air Filter (BMC)
Rear fender kit (skykingproducts.com)
Frame Sliders
Bar end mirrors

How about safety products? Helmet, gloves, boots, rain gear, jacket, pants, body armor.

I just installed 4 Kellermann Led turn signals on my bike because the leds I had before were only visible at night. They are really bright, but are 300 bucks for the 4. I would spend a 400 tax refund on suspension upgrades, like the Race Tech springs for the front. Along with a later mod of a rear shock (Ohlins?), it will give you the most enjoyment as it totally transforms your bike. I did it, and it was the Best upgrade I've done.

I'm all stocked up on gear - Arai Quantum helmet, armored Joe Rocket 88 leather jacket, armored Joe Rocket Sonic gloves, Bohn under-armor leggings, and over the ankle leather boots...

I'm leaning towards the rear fender-ectomy, buell turn signals, and either the bar-end mirrors, or the Adjure headlights - I might be able to do all that for under $400...
