April 1st was opening day for the somewhat local drag strip, so my brother in law who has a Busa decided that we need to go and see just how fast we are or are not.
I know I have see a few people post up time, but I don't remember what they ran.
My bike is a 06 Triple that has NO performance mods done to it, and my best run of the day was 11.237 seconds at 120.98mph. My worst run of the day was 13.338 at 102mph, and the reason it was so slow was I red lighted and decided to wheelie the run
I felt pretty good about my best time. I had a 03 Triple that my best run was 11.33 at 122mph. The only thing is that bike was geared 1down two up, pipe, and k&n filter.
If any one has some times post them up!!! What kind of mods too
Thanks

I drag race my 05 all the time. Last season my best time was 11.33 at 117 mph. I just raced last night but my brain wasn't right with it and I had bad times all over the place. I did have a personal high speed at 119, but my ET was down. Weird how that is.
Most of the time I run in the 11.5 to 11.6 range with speeds around 117-118 mph.
I also have the devils own time keeping the front end down in the first 100 feet. I'm going to try strapping the front end soon.
Mods so far: Just the Jardine slipons and the TOR tune. Didn't seem to make any difference in my times, although I haven't raced in six months and I know I wasn't on my game last night.
What's more interesting than the 1/4 mile is the 60 foot and 1/8th mile times. Compare that to your 'busa buddy and I think he'll be surprised. I'm not happy unless my 60' time is under 2 seconds and my 1/8 is around 7.5 seconds.
Just out of curiosity, what do you weigh? I'm sure I'm every bit of 220 in full kit, boots leather and helmet. Also, because our track is part of the road race course they won't let them spray VHT any further than the 120 foot concrete launch area. The track gets slick after that, and due to cold weather I was getting spin in 2nd gear.

My 06 Triple - stock:
60 foot = 1.859
330 foot = 4.835
1/8 mile = 7.275 @ 100.97mph
1000 foot = 9.422
1/4 mile = 11.237 @ 120.98mph
Brother in laws 05 Busa lowered 2 inches and geared down 1 in the front( this isn't his best time of the day, but what he ran against me):
60 foot = 1.773
330 foot = 4.587
1/8 mile = 6.947 @ 105.05mph
1000 foot = 8.945
1/4 mile = 10.643 @ 131.18
With all of my gear on I probably weigh in around 190lbs. The first 330 feet of the track is cement with the rest being blacktop. I don't know the elevation of the track. We were at Byron race way in Byron, IL ( http://www.byrondragway.com/)

Tsch, you are all way too slow !! Mad does the 60' in 0.15 at 302.4mph and the 1/8 mile in 2.5 @ 987mph. That's his Daytona, his Posastupidboringbusa is MUCH quicker.

Corners!
That is pretty ***** good. I bet that if you rode the busa you can get it in the high nines.
What is your procedure for launching the S3?
Ton Up!

Maybe Corners could show Mad how to ride that turbo Busa!?! :-D
That is a very impressive run on the speed triple corners! I think I'm going to take mine to the strip sometime soon, but we're not lucky enough to have a 1/4 mile track, only thing near me is 1/8 mile. I used to run my 99 R1 up there quite a bit, and also a 2001 F4i I had for a little while. Didn't do too well on the R1(did have a best of 7.10 once, but most of the time anywhere from 7.25 to 7.50), never had a consistent launch, but with the F4i, I could run consistent 7.40's. I would just hope for that on my S3, because I know she's got to be hard to keep her wheel down on the dragstrip! It'll be fun trying! If I get to go in the next month or so, I'll post my times.

I really don't have a "procedure" for drag racing. I just heat up the tire, pull up to the tree, let the clutch out to where it almost grabs, rev it a little, and when the light goes green I giver all shes got.
I was really surprised that the front end didn't come up all that much. It felt a little light between first and second gear shifts, but other than that it it held down surprising well.
My brother in law is soooooooo very anal about his busa and wont let anyone ride it. He doesn't think anyone can handle the "power" of the bike. That's why I found it funny when last year my buddy tossed me the keys to his GSXR1000 and told me to go clean up. I had never rode that bike before and I only got beat by .089 of a second, and he wouldn't re-race me.

My only problem was the first few runs I was spinning the tire when I got into second gear. We couldn't figure out what seemed to be the problem. I could get off the line just fine. I went and talked to a couple of guys with true drag bikes and they suggested that I lower my rear tire pressure more. The felt that when I heated the tire, and the started the run that there was enough heat created that the air in my tire was expanding fast enough that by the time I was getting to second it would expand and make the tire to hot and the tire was getting "greasy" or to hot to be sticky. After the next run I checked my tire pressure and it was up to 52psi(Started the day at 42psi). I lowered it to 35psi and had NO problems after that.
