I had my first oil change this weekend (500 miler). I used the recommended Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Motorcycle 4T "Triumph Formulated" (big woo - hoo!). I'm wondering what the rest of you run? Having a wet clutch limits you slightly, but I know there's a lot on the market.

I have heard a lot of stories of excessive oil consumption using other oils so I stick with the Mobile 1 also.

I just put that Synthetic Rotella in at 500 miles. I have a friend that told me that it isn't uncommon for shops to run analysis on motor oils if they think that is the problem though so I'm going to start using the Amsoil 10W-40 Synthetic. It fits the recommended API SG, SH standards specified in the MOM.

I think Triumph is getting a kickback from Mobil by recommending all their damn products. Mobil engine oil, Mobil clutch and brake fluid, Mobil antifreeze, Mobil bearing grease, Mobil chain lube....C'MON!! Sheesh.

I would recommend MOTUL fully synthetic with ester expensive but never had any probs with the clutch etc.

I use the Shell Rotella T 5w-40 (truck) synthetic in the colder months and Mobil 1 15w-50 (auto) in the warm months.(both purchased at china-mart)
Never any clutch slip(forget about any issues....not gonna happen, dont believe the misinformation!).....and both are extremely highly rated, so I hope I'm not going out on a limb by saying these truck and auto oils do lubricate a motorcycle engine just fine.....Add me to the growing list of satisfied and educated consumers! :-D

That link I posted earlier has many interesting things to say about it all and seems valid. Have always used the mobil 1 which i highly recommend but $50 every 3000/6000 miles is a bit much.Whether it is even fully synthetic any longer is also in question, though I do know it's French of origin but that have changed as well. Rotella it'll be next time not just because the price is right but it's readily available .

I may be rethinking my prior stance on the Amsoil. While it is cheaper than the Mobil/Triumph conglomerate deal, a case of the stuff costs $69, plus $25 to ship it.

I think I'm going to see how the up and coming mileage treats me w/the Rotella Synthetic and judge from there.

and I've heard it called Wally-World..but ChinaMart? That may be a little un PC.
