I am considering the purchase of a new s3. I currently ride a Daytona 650. Any feedback to what I should expect or why I should or should not make the purchase?

Do it!!!!!!!!!!! If you spend most of your time riding on the street it is one of the best machines available. Fast, nimble and gets the looks. It is a great compromise of comfortable ergos and performance. If you are into a lot of track time or going for long, long distance trips it might not be what you are looking for. OH and btw everyone knows that BLACK IS THE FASTEST. Goodluck on your decision.............

I've not been out on a track yet. I have on occasion traveled about 600 miles a day on my Daytona. I've put 13k miles in less than a year. I tend to stick to the backroads and try to take atleast one trip a month to deals gap.

Go ahead and take the plunge!

I agree with my fellow Arizonian, Black is the fastest.

But really, only thing you will have to get use to is the lack of wind protection, but that feeling goes away quick.

The up right riding style is something you'll end up loving too.

Black my be the fastest, but the blue ones handle the best

Other Motorcycle: 97 Bandit 600. Sold & missed.
Its one of those peaces of engineering you'll never get tired of.
There are those who say it's nothing but an expensive toy. I've been told that at stoplights. Bah! The jealous fools! They usually quit the stupid grin when I tell them that ~1/4 of the 21000Kms of my triple were made in roughly 8 "Spanish" days. The isle of Man awaits for 2007! Yes. She can be a tourer.
She will kill just about anything on the street. You'll corner the hell out of those mountain roads. Perfect ergonomics and incredible handling.
Hope your pillion isn't higher than 1.5m, though!

You will smile all the time, even when you are not riding it. It is the most fun bike I have ever ridden, and I get to ride about 20 different bikes a year.

Well, asking here, you have to expect some knee-jerk "just do it" kind of responses. It's true, of course, that this is an excellent street bike, and that's really the best reason on the plus side.

And yes, you can tour with it too... though I've not yet found anyone willing to tour two-up with me on the Triple.

But I think the real deciding factor for you should be whether you would want to take the same kinds of rides you enjoy on the Daytona if you had a very naked bike like the Speed Triple. It can be a very different experience. I know I enjoy the intimate contact with the wind, but not everybody does. Had a demo ride yet?
