I have heard alot of discussion on people losing their clutch cables.Where exactly do they break?is it something you can keep your eye on?Do they start pulling hard before they go.

From what I'm told by the dealer it will break at which ever end sees the least amount of lube!! Which is why I posted a thread on what lube works best. I sell bicycles for a living and it is the same reason for failure. JUST KEEP IT LUBED! Just keep an eye on both ends of the cable and look for any splitting or wear on the cable.

A timely topic - mine snapped this morning in bumper to bumper traffic - at the lever end. It's done 80,000kms so I'm not surprised, since I commute 100kms a day in traffic.

Keeping it lubed was the reason it lasted so long, I've seen others snap way earlier.

If it does snap you can get moving, just pull the lever to the bar, select first and hit the starter. It's a jerky old start, but you can get going and get to a shop or home to replace it, which is also a very easy job. WARNING - don't start your bike off on the starter too much, or often, I think you know why

Those cables just plane suck! I had motion pro make me one. It was the first one they had done and used my old part as a template. Its the BIGGEST improvement in my bike in real terms. Call or email them. And they are fairly cheap. Whatever you do don't just buy another triumph part.
