I still got mush from my brakes even with the 5/8mc from time-to-time and now that my pads are worn down, even thorough bleeding doesn't help. I'm thinking it is more of a caliper issue than a mc issue. Then again, thats just my experience.

Don't get me wrong though, the 5/8mc was a big improvement in brake feel over stock, and you can't beat having that extra gush of fluid being pushed through when you're trying to bleed the lines.

Why don't you just save your money and get it replaced by the dealer?? I was talking to the mechanic at my local shop and he has the new 1050 and had issues with the brake and Triumph sent him the new updated set up! He said they know about the problem and have fixed it and are willing to take care of anyones bikes!!! He said the brake works the way it should now. Just a thought! :???:

I'm not sure if there's anything new and improved on my 2006 S3 delivered to me in November 2005 but the brake lever is still firm and braking feels responsive without any mushiness some of you have described. I'll ask my dealer/mechanic the next time I see him. His bike is a 2004 S3 with lots of mods.

I have an 05 that I got in August of 05. I have never had the brake problems that some describe here. It is a grey area though.

Some discuss the brake level coming all the way back to the bar. I have never had this, and I have @7,000 miles on her now. I even have a CRG mirror that would cause it to contact about half an inch before the bar. I have had no issues, and I don't have to adjust my level out to maintain it. I also haven't had to use a screwdriver on my pads.

Others discuss that it feels mushy. I have compared it to an R1 and S21000 monster, and it does in fact feel mushier than the R1 or the S21000. There is more travel, as those brakes felt very stiff. Maybe half an inch total travel.

I actually kinda like the slight bit of extra travel. It gives me a more gradual application. If I want to full on stop, it's hardly more travel of the level. If I want something in between, I have more control. It's easier to pick 75% braking with more travel than it is with an R1 that is more On/Off.

my 06 delivered in september 05 has the mushy brake issue. The brakes get softer over time. I just did the pull the calipers/pads and push the pistons job on them. It was clear that the pistons were sticking, and that each one of them moved more (or less) freely than the others. I only rode 150 miles yesterday, but they were sweet, much better than they have ever been. We'll see how long that lasts. My vote is still that it's faulty caliper/piston build that is causing the issues.

Is there a service bulletin out for the brakes? If so, please see if your mechanic friend could supply the bulletin number. Thanks,

Yeh I'll second that request for the copy of an official tech bulletin. When I mentioned the brake issue to my dealer he said he'd never heard of it and said I was the first one to complain about the brakes!!!
