Cable Lube, with adapter is the best way that I know of.

Order one of these kits from somewhere...

The Kit contains one 6.25 ounce aerosol can of Champions Choice Cable Life and one Champions Choice Cable Luber (NEW improved design now accepts larger cables up to 3/8 inches in diameter. Two screw clamp for a tighter, more secure fit).

You can order one from Murphs Kits for $17.00. You can of course also find this stuff at a local motorcycle dealership or accessories retailer.

I got a cable lube tool from Targa and use white lithium spray. Works great, but make sure to put a rag on both ends to keep the ***** from spraying all over the place.
