is there going to be a s3 675 based on the new daytona motor? would be sweet but doesnt seem to make much sense as the hp numbers are almost the same. kinda makes ya wonder why the 1050 isnt pumping out around 150hp.

I think this is mostly rumor. It may happen some day, but certainly not any time soon.

There's been lots of speculation about it, and a whole lot of Photochops of what one might look like.

My personal feeling is that there will be another new large displacement engine developed for the liter class bikes, one of which will be a new Speed Triple. Probably the 1050 will be the final version of the T500 series of motors.

They always seem to be ahead of our media. I also like what the new Tiger will look like.

It has such a long stroke that it cannot be revved high enough reliably. It is stuck at 10000rpm.

I would rather see a consistent figure of 130hp at the rear wheel and 80 lbs of torque. A flat torque curve just like on the new 1050 which start down low. And also shave another 10 pounds of the weight.

Then we could add custom exhausts, mapping, power commanders, higher flow air filter, and modify the throttle bodies which should yield another 5-15 hp.

Anything with over 100hp at the rear wheel is extremely powerful. But is it the Torque that makes it more special. Any S3 is a great machine out of the box.

Believe me I love power, lots of it. I sometimes think why does everyboby else have more power? But then I think, I am the only with the BUG EYES! Than can do 3rd gear over 100mph standups all day long.

Get a supercharger or a turbo and you'll have all the power you could ever want and then some. I imagine an SC would make the S3 power wheelie in just about any gear considering the ones I've seen bump torque up to around 100-120ft lbs...

I'm thinking they're going to release actual photos of the 675 S3 this fall and have an actual bike out for 07. This would satisfy the people who either want a lighter bike with less power or those who simply cannot afford the insurance rates for a 1k+ cc machine.

EXACTLY!!!!!!! A 675 S3 has potential to be fun, BUT after having the full blown Triple... would it really compare????

Yes, it would indeed compare! It would be tossable and rev happy with similar HP. Yee-haw!

Perhaps! But it lacks the torque of the 1050. If they stop making the big triple I guess I would have to get a Brutale 910, a Tuono or a KTM Superduke.

It is great to be different! It is great to have choices.

I rode the 675 at Daytona Bike Week and I can honestly say YES, it would most definitely be a fun bike to ride. You wouldn't be able to rip it wide open and just blast quite like the bigger triple can, but for twisties, I'm thinking the 675 would easily outdo its big brother.
