I have just fitted the gear lever off either the earlier triple or the daytona, it's about 1/2" closer to the peg (depending where you move it)
The gear change is a lot more solid alowing for quicker changes, a good mod in my opinion.

Bought the lever from Jack Lillys Part Number - T2080926

It now looks like the original press release photos, anyone know why they added the 'scofolding' style linkage before release?

Sorry Steve I'm not sure what it's from, I spoke to Jack Lillys and said I thought it was a lever from a Daytona or the early triple, they went off for a look and came back with the official part number only. I will call them again and ask if you would like me to.

Now, why in the world didn't they leave it like that in the first place? I never noticed the rearset before. I wonder what made them change to sh!t linkage???

I have average sized feet, this would be very handy or should that be feety?

How much did the leaver cost?

Not exactly sure, but I would suspect it's all to do with the forces applied by your foot.

With the lever you have just installed, the twisting action caused by changing may eventually chew out the seal on the shifter shaft. Also, if you have an off, the lever could bend the shaft. With the linkage, there is no twisting directly on the shaft, it's applied to the linkage, with the linkage applying a straight, not twisted force, and they're more easily repaired. If you have an off, it's more than likely just to damage the lever and the linkage, but leave the shaft alone.

At least that's what I reckon

Mick

Mick,

Very good points... They could have done a bit better job of it though... I'm not totally against linkage, my LSL's have one, it is just MUCH better executed.

That part # is off the 955 Daytona. Some people like the linkage because it gives an almost infinite adjustment of the shift peg height, whereas with the direct lever you are stuck with what the splines allow. Part# T2080924 is is about an inch and a bit shorter for really big feet
