Has anyone fitted a new drive chain for the 05/06 I was thinking of a gold d.i.d chain just for looks and has anyone switched sprockets? I was thinking just staying with the stock gearing and just replacing the sprockets with renthal sprockets as well

The stock chain is a DID 530VM. Are you sure you want to change your chain to the same chain but in different color?

I think 44 rear would be optimal, if you want to fiddle with the gearing. The 44 will fit on the stock length chain so if you do not like it, you can always go back to the stock 42 without shortening the chain.

I've got a DID 530 VM X-ring chain and I love it. A lot stronger and resistant to stretching than the supposed stock DID 530 they had on the 03. I managed to stretch that thing waaaay out after only 3 or 4k miles with wheelies.

Oh, keep in mind, if you go up or down any teeth on your sprockets on the 05+ S3s, you'll need a speedo healer so you're reading the right speed. Heh, Kyle Woods was joking around with me about how he'll be doing standups on his S3 and his speedo reads like 140mph when he's only doing like 80mph. Of course he's like down two in the front and up 10 in the back though.

the 05/06 speed 3 comes with a did 530 x-ring already I just wanted it for looks. I didn't want a gearing change maybe just a new anodized renthal rear sprocket to go with the gold chain.. but screw it the chain is half hidden anyway I will save the $$$ for the pazzo racing shorty levers they should be shipping in a week or so I was told
