Looking for the hex key size of the 1050 S3's front caliper bolts.

My bike is winterized at a group garage and I will have to buy the proper hex head on the way. If only I could remember even the ballpark of the bolt.

I want to say it's a 6mm hex, but once I get home(in about 4-5 hrs), I can let ya know for sure.

Home sick today, so I checked. Of the visible bolts on the caliper, there seems to be three types:

(1) The two large bolts that hold the caliper to the bottom of the fork leg = 8mm
(2) The four bolts that hold the two halves of the caliper together = 6mm
(3) The bolt in the middle of the caliper that holds the "guide" along which the two brake pads move = 5mm

Sorry I don't know the technical terms. Hope this helps!

I want to know who has any other bolts in the front calipers. Mine are a black 14mm hex and the bolts are total SH!T... They seem to be a cheap galvanized bolt as they are very rough. They f-ed up one of my mounts and it will require either a replaced front shock lower or a threaded insert. I want to use the hex bolts as seen in the factory pics...

Who else has the hex bolts??

Thanks guys, you have saved me an extra trip to the garage.

Geof3,
what bolts are you talking about? The main 2 caliper to fork mounting bolts? I do not remember any galvanized black bolts anywhere. The largest bolts around the caliper are the main mounting bolts and they are polished steel with a hex head.

I think so. That's why I posted this pic. But I don't understand the question about the black 14mm hex bolts Geof3 is talking about :???:

I've got hex bolts on my '06 rather than the allens.

Obviously they have performed some cost cutting "upgrades" on the 2006 model. Those tapered head allen bolts look expensive custom made ones.
