well done the 17/45 egaring and a 180 instead of 190 pilot powers and well its transformed it,

pilot powers are really really good, even with less that 20 miles on em i was banking right over and they felt planted.

The gearing is superb, so much grunt coming out the corners.

highly recommended to anyone

Be careful! I usually wait over 50 miles before any agressive cornering. My tire provider always wants me to get closer to a 100 miles.

They are very slippery when new. Both my Diablos and my Michelins. What kind of air pressure are you running? I run 34/37psi

Take care!

When I used to buy tires from the dealers they would tell me ride like 150-200 miles before riding aggressive. I've come to the conclusion, it's not like that at all. You can have some tires scrubbed in, in 10-12 miles IMO if you want to. Maybe less, but I usually give mine about that much. Granted this needs to be on a twisty road, so don't ride 10-12 miles on a straightaway and then try slamming her over into a 15mph turn! I just gradually take each turn a little quicker on this one road near my house. By the time I'm at the end, I'm probably 80% pace. After that, I'll ride like I do everyday on them. Granted, all tires are different, so the tires I'm doing this warm up process on is the Michelin Pilot Powers. Just thought I would add my .02! However, one guy's aggressiveness can be quite different from the next guy's, so use your own discretion.

If you push too hard too soon and 'bin it' then you know you have gone too far. . .

Sorry not very helpfull :hammer:

.GNOME.

PS: I usually aim for 40 - 50 miles lean angle a bit more each corner

Browsing here as a Thruxton owner who did another 400 km of break-in kms today on my dealer's demo S3 (temperature only 2 degr. C., but sunny). Another 200 km to go tomorrow: it's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.............
According to him (a true Triumph specialist and enthusiast from '92 onwards), a 17t sprocket on a Speedtriple will eventually cause the chain to grind down into the aluminium of the swingarm! He recommends a bigger sprocket on the rear wheel instead, 43 to 45t.
I have to sleep it over, but I just might trade in my Thruxton tomorrow for a S3 in scorched yellow (depends on his offer).

Here a picture that I made today of the 'White Lightning':

I am curious with your 17/45 gearing what are your speeds on all six gears? My prediction is as follows,

1st 57mph
2nd 79mph
3rd 100mph
4th 120mph
5th 134mph
6th 144mph

How close am I?

Thanks!
