I picked up my new Speed triple today. I can't wait to get through break in so I can give it a little more throttle. So far, I like everything except the useless mirrors, whimpy horn and tail section. Everything's already on order from New Speed 3 to correct my minor complaints.

Welcome to the world of S3's. You will love it. Overall it is a superb bike. The mirrors as you have stated are worthless and look a bit too much like "Mickey Mouse" ears for me. It was one of the first things I changed. But part of the fun is customizing the scoot to fit your style and tastes. FYI this forum is ausome for information and questions you may have regarding your new ride. Many knowledgable owners on this site. (I will exclude myself from that list however but I have gotton many questions answered here) Anyway welcome aboard and ride safe...............

It will be easy to get those break in miles ........ The problem is you get those first 500 in and then you have to stop for a service.........
The only thing that can`t be corrected at your first service is removing that s_ _ t eatin grin off your face and the giddy laugh that comes with it.........
Good luck.....Have fun......Enjoy.....

I was out riding last night ant passed the first 100 miles. Just using those few extra RPM's (part 2 of the break in) make a big difference. And even though the tires aren't fully scrubbed in yet, I found some nice twistys, and pushed it a bit. It handles like a dream. It can only get better. And yeah, I'm grinning big time.

That's some impressive roster of bikes you got in your garage, man.

Personally, I never understood why folks were so worried about keeping the revs low during break-in. These modern bikes can take much more than one would think. Heck, some folks actually believe in breaking in a bike HARD. Me? I just rode mine normally (heavy-handed at times) from day one.

What? I enjoy admiring my manly biceps in them as I cruise down the road. That's what they're there for, isn't it?
