well, almost done,
the d900 has just about been fully speed tripled-

s3 loom, (daytona just dont fit in headlight shell!!!)

headlight/brackets,

clock housing (still trying to source some m5 internal sleeve bolts- the daytona clocks have shorter mounting bolts so need some internal thread bolts to give me the extra length to fit clock covers)

speedo cable (couldn't believe the daytona was too short- modular design except the bits I was changing!!! heh heh.)

got a set of triple yokes coming from triumphant, to properly mount the clocks.

the ol' girl stands naked in the cold!!!

BUT now I have ahouse full of daytona bits. evil thoughts creeping in- should i sell it all or keep it!? argh!!!!!

part of me is strongly tempted to keep- by just removing the headlight and brackets, leaving the bracket sliders in place i can slip the fairing frame on, make up a connector block to fit the dual lamps whack the fairing on and hey presto! daytona again! keep triple yokes. time will tell whether i could retain triple clock housing with enough clearance, but otherwise its just a case of popping the clocks back in daytona housing. i made a connector block which switches from temp guage to warning lamp, so all in all with smoke breaks and the odd cup of coffee i could be back as a daytona in two hours.

however!- evil part of brain suggests selling all daytona bits on ebay make some money on the whole project (although through luck i managed to source most conversion parts for very little money) therefore spend some cash on crash protectors/ flyscreen/ possibly go for black colour scheme etc etc.

confusion reigns!!! one of the reasons i did the conversion was to have both the daytona and triple- greedy boy- there were a few other reasons i've mentioned in other posts, but now looking at it i really like it and wonder if i would go back....
i will miss the rain and elements protection, but wont miss the evils of side wind turmoil!

so opinions if anyones got any!!!!
should i sell
or should i keep?????!!!!!!

cheers all!

Who am I to suggest... I just finished acquiring a complete new set of body panels, including a tank, for my '01 Speed Triple for the sole reason of a custom paint job that won't affect the original body... Why... just to be different i guess... it's like changing clothes or something... just thought it would be neat to have a couple of options.

Along with the new bodywork, I'll be installing an undertail and an integrated tail light... I should really stop tinkering with this thing and just buy a Daytona 675 to quell the boredom... it would be a whole lot quicker to get on another bike than to swap out the body! But then again, that doesn't involve any wrenching, which is part of the fun... Winters are cold in Indiana and I have to have something to do that keeps me involved with the bike... Just sitting on it in the garage looks a little pathetic to the wife and kids!

Irrational lot aren't we...

Do what makes you happy, don't worry about the rationality of it all! No one understands us anyway!

Yes!!!Keep the Daytona bits!Considering what you have gone through to strip it down, you should be able to find an easy and quick way to slap that stuff back on.
How about some pics?I gotta see this.

funny- i posted this in the daytona delib forum and opinion seemed to lean toward selling the bits, and the trip forum leans towards keeping!!!

in terms of changing back, i reckon it should be quick- can get it to a daytona in a two hours (including fag and coffee breaks). I guess there is something nice about having both options at my disposal......

as for pics- i'm with ya! not a major piece of spannering, but hell yes its been fun!!!!! so i really want to get pics up!!!!
as soon as i can figure out how!!!

anyone care to outline how to post pics via the idiots guide!?
