I have an exhaust on my bike, its something I bought on ebay. Its got 3 exhauts on the side. Looks weird but I like it.

My question is, the piece where the pipe meets the connection to the mid pipe there is nothing to hold it. My other exhaust had 2 springs there, and the springs at the exhast itself. But this one leaks. When its warming up it shows a bit of smoking coming out of the connection.

Is there something that can fix this? Tape? I have seen guys tape up their exhausts from headers all the way down the pipes because it makes more hp as well.

Actually, heat taping your whole exhaust doesn't add any HP at all, with the possible exception of taping between the head and a Turbo. Mostly this is done as a fashion statement, but in some cases (Buell for instance) it helps keep some of the heat off of the rider. This is why NASCAR exhaust is usually wrapped. (At least this is what I have read.)

If you could post a picture of this you would get some more helpful replies. I'm not sure what your problem is from your description. I doubt "Tape" would solve anything. There are a number of solutions to this kind of problem when we get the full "picture". :hammer:

Springs can be bought, there should be little welded on loops of steel which the springs bare against on the pipes you're mating - but if there are no loops - suggest that a clamp is needed. Some high temp silicone smeared over the male end of the pipe, not a lot, clamp or spring the female part before the silcone sets, wait til dry, cut the excess off and leaks should be eliminated. The high temp silicone stuff can be gotten at any car parts store - make sure it's high temp, often they'll be colour coded - perhaps orange - depending on manufacturer. The tape as you say is used to help scavenging by evening the heat thru' the pipe, some say it gives a performance return but after a while it looks like ***** with dirt and road filth - better off getting the pipes jetcoated - spruces them up, not expensive, lasts a long time with out deteriorating and aids scavenging.

If you can weld with oxy-aceteline, get hold of an old spoke, cut it into 4 x 2" lengths, bend them into hooks and weld them in place about 1" further apart than the length of the original springs. Fixed. If you don't weld, take it to the shop and get them to do it.

I broke a spring hook on my original headers and this was the easiest fix.
