All of mine have names except the Speed Triple. Despite what the column to the left has said for a year about the bike not revealing its name, we're actually in protracted negotiations about that subject. The Triple suggested some time ago that he would like to simply be called Blue. (Contrary to conventional wisdom, not all motorcycles are female.)
Unfortunately, the Bonneville immediately objected, because her name is Bonnie Blue; which is because I dote and indulge her the way Rhett Butler did his and Scarlet's daughter. Lived in Georgia at the time, you see.
Then the Triple suggested Big Blue to distinguish between them. That still doesn't suit Bonnie because she feels it reduces her name to a diminutive.
Since the Triple wants to keep the "blue" theme in some form, I suggested that he go by Luke, as in Paul Newman's character, "Cool Hand Luke." He immediately rejected that one, and several others I've come up with, and keeps pushing for Big Blue.
Bonnie has softened her position slightly. She will agree to Big Blue, but only if I get another bike first and name it Little Blue, thus not making it sound as if she is subordinate to the Triple. Very independent gal.
Problem is, the only other Triumph this year that is both smaller than the Triple and offered in blue is the Speed Four, which raises two concerns: (a) it may not still be available, and (b) I'm really starting to want a 675.
Guys with only one bike have it so much easier.
For now, the Triple remains nameless...which makes me feel guilty, because only soulless vehicles should be traveling about without some kind of name.
