Do you really want a triumph alarm?
I have one of these (Scorpio SR-i500) and I'm very satisfied.

pros:
The remote control is pocket-enabled (meaning it fits in a pocket!) and you''ll be able to con your friends into believing it's your new cell phone!
The proximity sensor really works!
Wide range and will go through a wall or two.

cons:
the alarm will spend all the free space under the seat (WHAT free space?)

I definitely recommend it.

Does the scorpio prevent bike starting also? I took a look at their hookup instructions and with the universal wire harness the alarm seems to only hook up to power.

Also do you have it wired to the standard alarm led on the rev counter?

Or did you find a wire set for Triumph from somewhere?

I bought the Triumph alarm and I'm not sure I' recommend it. It has some nice features. You can add a pager feature to it. The adjustable sensitivity is nice and it will kill the engine is someone jacks with the bike but it also ha some annoying features. It arms itself 30 seconds after you turn it off if you don't start the engine whether you want it to or not and there is no disarmed mode at all. This feature is a pain in the ass at gas stations no cold days. I like to sit on the bike while I fill it up (I know, 'What if the gas ignites while you're filling the bike? You can't run away! That's dangerous!' shut up pansy!). With the Triumph alarm you have to either have to disarm the motion sensor and then remember to turn the alarm back off before you start the bike or you have to leave it running while you fill it. I always forget to disarm the alarm before starting it back up (because I didn't arm it in the first place, it armed itself) and then I have to dig back into my pocket to get the remote while the deafening alarm is irritating everybody within 100 yards (did I mention that I keep my key separate from the remote to keep from scratching up the bike?). Just thinking about it pisses me off and that isn't even the most annoying feature of the alarm. That award goes to the valet or mechanic mode (can't remember what they call it). You can't disarm the alarm so if you're working on it you have to put it in this mode. The motion sensor and the ignition sensor will both be disarmed so you can fiddle with the electronics but I emits a deafening beep about every 5 seconds and the only thing that you can do about it is take the seat off and stuff a rag over the speaker. Even then the mechanic at our local dealership managed somehow to set the alarm off twice performing the first routine service. He hates working on my bike.

'Why not yank the power when you're working on it?' Like most alarms it has a large battery built into it so yanking the power just makes it mad. Additionally, sometimes the seat switch works and sometimes it doesn't and when the alarm goes into sleep mode (I don't get to ride it as often as I'd like) the only way I have been able to bring it out a couple of times was to initiate a full alarm. Given that I like to go riding before my family wakes up, that has been a problem.

It was 380 euros... thats about 453 USD... and it was the cheapest I could find here in Portugal (wasn't all that comfortable buying this kind of electronic thingies over the net - warranty and stuff).

Yes it does! It even allows you to remotely turn the engine off. I had the alarm installed by a professional as I'm just plain deaf when it comes to electronics and was scared ******** to do anything wrong and start a fire! :-D

hmmm.... that didn't come to mind at the time!!! I guess it would be a bit more deterrent with the flashing light.

That's another cool feature of the Triumph alarm. There is an LED on the Tach for the alarm that blinks to let you know it's on. If I remember correctly it's the LED on the right side of the face.

well, i bought the Scorpio SR-i500 with all the add ons! i called the guy and talked to him for a half an hour he explained all the workings, and it sounds like a top-notch system! he also saved me about $100 he gave me the "group buy" discount (total with shipping $349.00)
and they do have a triumph wiring kit for it to use the light on the tach. i talked to a guy named anthony (he rides a daytona) just in case you guys want one : 1-800-428-0440

thanks for your guys input!
