Took a trip down to my local dealer today as Triumph launched the 675 this weekend. Took it out on a test ride (well just have to if its on offer) came back got on the S3 and never looked back. My son (ZX6R rider) was quite impressed with it but not for me. It is a good machine in its class there is no doubt but the S3 is undoubtable the better of the two. I had forgotten how much you need to ring the throttle out of six hundreds.
One thing I did like was the Gear indicator on the display panel why didn't Triumph put one of those on the S3 it was very clear and indicated numerically what gear you are in, a nice touch as I am always looking for the seventh gear when on prolonged rides.
Anyway nice bike but I will stick with the S3. It was worth going for the free burgers.

Yeah, I kind of wish the S3 had a gear indicator too. It's not necessary, but I find myself riding around in 3rd gear all the time just because it's so much FUN!25-100 MPH and fun all the way without a shift!

However, the new 675 probably needs the indicator more, because it needs to be wound up to stay in it's power. At least I would think so.

I didn't get to ride one, but I did get to sit on one. I agree that the S3 is a better all around bike. Laying down on the fuel tank all the time just isn't for me.

I have set mine up to sort of act as a gear indicator in as much as change gears on orange or red and in top gear orange I keep my license red I could be catching the bus to work.
Not really an indicator I guess but atleast when I am in the red zone in top I used my excellent bar end mirrors to there full potential.

My mate has a digital gear indicator which he has fitted to his Fireblade.
