hey Gnome,

probably not a real issue for you considering where you live,
but don't park your bike in the hot sun. The gel seat will absorb a lot of heat, and scorch your @rse when you sit on it.

Hi Guys,

I am just trying out a prototype seat that I've made for the Speed triple. Its a got a hump on it and I have tried to make it less curved at the front than the original. The idea was to produce a more cafe style seat to go with the LSL stuff we sell.

The seat that I've done is a little too thick IMHO but I will be taking it apart again to reduce the thickness a bit. At the moment I think it makes the seat height too high for shorties. The seat will be offered as an exchange built on the stock seat base as its going to be too difficult to reproduce the stock seat base in GRP.

I did about 100 miles on it last weekend it was pretty comfortable, I found the stock seat locks me into a position which I find uncomfortable after about 50 miles. The temp was around 4 degrees C so I got pretty cold and headed home.

I am still running our speed triple in but I think I'm going to have lots of fun on this bike this year. I ve got a trip planned to the swiss alps this summer and I reckon the S3 has got to be the bike to take.

Regards

Oliver Cole

I too would love an aftermarket seat. I had a corbin on my FZ1 and I will be trying the sergeants because theirs will be available first, and I need a new seat bad.

I think my stock seat cants me forward too much. Therefore if I want a nice flat portion to sit on I have to hug right up against the tank, which is not very comfortable even after a short ride. I wish the seating area was longer with a larger flatter portion to sit on and would also give you the side benefit of being able to slightly alter position on longer rides.

We can all help ourselves by contacting corbin and sergeants and requesting they make us a seat. numbers talk and they need to hear that they are missing a market by not making us one. :hammer:

Update: Sergeants 1050 Speed Triple seat will be available in May 2006 see their site for more info, get on their early mailing list for an introductory price when available and a picture of the seat.

I have sent my seat to Sargents through my dealer. The seat modification is limited due to the tool kit recess. If this can be cut out and a flat piece inserted then there is a chance the seat can be made with a little more space for movement fore and aft.
I will let you know.

TripleTango please keep us informed, i am very interested to hear your results.

I do not know if anyone agrees with me but i feel that the seat slopes forward too quickly and forces me to skooch forward or forces my hips/ spine to rock forward. I wish the entire riders seat was flat with no slope as it goes towards the passenger portion. to me this would make a much more comfortable seating position and give u room to move around.

anyway keep the emails to corbin and sargents coming. i contacted corbin and they thanked me for the info. sargents stated that they "we're still assessing demand", so please let them know we want a seat.

Sergeants update: see above post.

Utilizing the latest digital modeling, computer design (CAD) techniques, precise manufacturing processes, and superior materials, the (2005+) World Sport Speed Triple Seat will feature a precision molded base pan for superior fit and outfitted with high-quality hardware. The seat base pan will be constructed with our NEW CarbonTec composition base pan - a special plastic/alloy polymer. This super tough, lightweight material provides an exceptional high-performance seat foundation.

Our Super Cell Atomic Foam suspension is our own unique and proprietary blend of resilience, firmness, and vibration-absorption qualities - making it well suited for maximum long distance comfort. The seat foam will also be contoured for enhanced lateral support and a more neutral position allowing full use of the seating area.

I've had both Corbins and Sargents and I have to say that I prefer the high density foam that Corbin uses.

Until that comes out, however, have you guys tried riding up on the passenger seat while cruising? It feels a little funny at first, but I've found that it lets you stretch your legs a bit and shifts your weight on a different part of the ol' arse. Also has the advantage of letting you get a better tuck when the wind is getting to you.
