A week or so ago there was a thread asking if the s4 shift lever would fit the new s3. I was at my dealer last week and picked up a used s4 lever. It fits fine but is about 1/2" closer to the foot peg than the original. This doesn't seem significant - about the same as 1 size difference in shoe size.

Haven't had a chance to ride yet but I think I'll like no linkage. I used an aftermarket lever on my 2000 ST and found it far superior to the linkage - think this will be much the same.

It does to us people who have the 6 sizes bigger shoes to begin with.

Interesting mod in any case. Please keep us posted of the results as I would also be intrerested in trying this out with a custom or parts pile fished shift lever.

I was the one that brought this up. I picked up a salvaged Daytona 600 shift lever. I suspect there are a few models that would fit/work. As FrankP mentions, it does bring the shifter peg about 1/2" closer to the foot peg and the spline alignment does limit adjustment of the shifter peg height.

It works well for my size 43 Sidi feet. I've found the shifts more positive and it increases the snickability factor up and down through the gears.

I was turned on to the the idea by a Triumph guy (?Mike?) at the Abbottsford M/C show.

Not a speed four lever - I have just fitted a shifter off either the earlier triple or the daytona, it's about 1/2" closer to the peg but a bit of fidling around and it's in quite a comfortable position.
The gear change is a lot more solid alowing for quicker changes, a good mod in my opinion.

Bought the lever from Jack Lillys Part Number - T2080926

It now looks like the original press release photos, anyone know why they added the 'scofolding' style linkage before release?
