Hey guys, I was looking on MCN AU website and they have some wallpapers of the 05 S3. On the picture it has a little oil cooler down the left side. Not like mine, oh no! mine is directly below the rad. It also has a different balancer pipe thingy. What is this model, is it an 06?, or is it something that was changed prior to production???

Hey 1050Pome,

You're right....that photo is of an early prototype.

The Black Motorcyce is not equipped with a US spec exhaust sytsem. Some export markets (austrailia, italy, new zealand, etc...) do not require catalytic converters. here in the US Triumph has decided to equip the motorcycle with an exhaust system featuring a catalytic converter, Therefore the exhaust systems of the pictured motorcycles are different by design.
I haven't been informed of any mechanical differences between the 2005 & 2006 US spec Speed Triples.( email from Triumph to me) and because of the different exhaust , the system runs at a higher heat , therefore a different sized cooler is required.Hope that helps you.

While most of this is correct, actually the bikes run hot anyway. I'm sure the oil cooler as presented in the proto-release pics was found to be inadequate. The Euro spec bikes have the same rad as ours.

The cats are in the stock cans. The bike doesn't run significantly cooler or hotter without them.
