I'm selling my beloved Speed 3, as it's time for me to move on to other things. My question is, am I out of line advertizing it for $6000? It's an '03, with 15k miles, in perfect shape. There's a Triumph hi-mount CF can, seat cowl (with some special checkered flag graphics), rad cowls, CF hugger and fly screen (now with a Laminar Lip screen). It also has CRG levers and lane-splitter mirrors, and a Rizoma oil-cooler guard. The bike is silver, and (in my unbiased opinion :-D ) is beautiful. I'm located in Northern CA.
I wish I could attach pics.
Any opinions? Guesses? Thoughts?

What you think is beautiful is not necessarilly what a potential buyer would think is beautiful. The more you personalize a bike to your tastes the more the potential buyers list dwindles.
The price you are asking and what you can sell it for is dependant on finding a buyer that likes your mods and looking for your particular year bike.
If you really want to sell your bike, sweeten the deal to increase your buyer base. That's your only option.

I think that's a fair asking price. The local dealer here has an 03 listed for $6450.00.

NADA
Fairing-Windshield Only: $90 $105
Exhaust-High Performance (Street): $126 $150
Oil Cooler: $66 $80
TOTAL PRICE $4,547 $5,945
I hate to go by that but it will probably give you a more realistic expectation of what you will get....

Just bought an 03 with 4k miles, some accesories and new tires.. Bike was showroom new condition and pristine in every way.. $6500
A little high, but I think it's worth it!
Depending on your local market, $6k is a little high, but I wouldn't consider it to be out of the ballpark.

Pshhh, I work for a dealership and recently helped a customer sell his BMW R850R on ebay. The NADA price was between $2,200-2,500 and he ended up getting like $3,900. SO, I'm thinking with the 05+ bike selling for basically MSRP, you could easily get an 03 sold on ebay with a reserve of $5000 or $5,500 if you have really good photos and an excellent description of the bike...

Locally I'm sure you have a Cycle trader, they also have an on line site and of course there's ebay. By researching through all those places you'll get a pretty good idea of prevailing prices. Another thing you might do is take it back to stock - presuming you have all the bits and selling the after market stuff independently, or the other way around instead - prices are seasonal I've noticed, even for the bike. If you are in a hurry to sell, ie motivated you'll be less likely to get a higher price, so be aware of your own situation - that'll dictate what you'll get too. Quick sales usually are low, slow for high prices for a good bike take longer, but that's not always true. Typically though, take the first right price - if you want $6000, ask $6450 and let him/her haggle - play the game as it were. How you advertise and it's cost remember comes off the gotten price, so if you sell for $5800 and spent 3months doing it for a cost of $80 you've lost that - hence $5720. I would look into ebay first, people are going to ask you what the shipping cost is - 'Forward Freight' will ship across country for under $500 - terminal to terminal, they're going to be the cheapest and quickest - but you'll have to do half the work by taking it to the nearest airfreight terminal that they work from. California has a fair number of Triumphs, but not a lot of people who know the price, Craig's list is worth a try - SF has still quite a MC culture and some good dealers for support for any potential buyer. But keep your mouth shut about them until it's sold is a good idea, you don't want them going to the dealer and buying new do ya! good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Pretty much what I thought, as I based the price on KBB- high retail is $6500, trade-in value is $4500. One never knows about 'book' numbers, though. Some vehicles will sell for higher, some lower. I'll probably lower the price a bit, or I may (depending on $$) just trade it in. I've got the local HD dealer checking on that now. Yes, I'm going to the dark side, and getting a Harley. It's time to slow down- that Triple is too tempting to go fast! I just want to cruise (for now, anyway) and 'smell the roses'.
