Hello, everyone. I just received my '06 S3 this past weekend and love it. I formerly had an '02 S3, and the Triumph pin for my Pit Bull rear stand fit well. The '06, however, has some sort of resin in the rear wheel's axle, so the Triumph pin doesn't fit. Any ideas why that resin in in there? I think I can simply file it out and the pin will fit. Thanks.

Mine doesn't have anything in the hole. It's 28mm about half way through and 30 mm the rest of the way.

It might be a large quantity of cosmoline (sp?) a protective coating that is applied to the bikes prior to shipping them to the US. It may have accumulated in that hole and dried there leaving the diameter somewhat smaller.

You should be able to remove it with a hot soapy-water solution.

I called pit-bull on the same issue. Basically the material is a residue of some sort, cosmoline or something and can be removed are at least sanded to allow the pins to fit. No big deal.

I purchased the pit bull stand from cycle gear in jacksonville fl and I have an 06 and haven't experienced any problems with the stand nor the pin.

I used a die grinder to clean up the left side opening - mine had a metal lip - just poor QC.

For what it's worth, I cleaned out the axle last night but still couldn't get the pin to fit. Like FrankP, my rear axle seems to have about a 1-2 mm lip, but it is about 20 mm inside the axle. Kind of crazy. The folks at Pit Bull, however, are very accommodating and are going to send me the "T undersized" pin. It sounds like they've seen this before.

I just got my Pit-Bull stand and the pin, marked "T," fits fine.

Mine is the same way. It isn't metal. It is resin... It will come out, it's just a pain. The undersized pin will most likely cause the bike to wobble a bit... Just be careful. I'd keep working the resin out until the pin fits snug...

If some pins are fitting and some are not, maybe you got sold the wrong pin, for your type of bike.
