Yea, man, screw the man! Ride on! Or ride the track but don't give up the freedom!

I for one am glad hes off the road if he only has occupational privelages. but now hes in a 3000lb plus vehicle, thats scary.

you asked my advice and I gave it :-D
In all fairness he could have had his licence suspended for streetracing or stunting... we've all been guilty of that to some degree at one time or another. Patrol cops around here hunt sportbike riders as they are easier to ticket than lawyers and doctors on cruisers (riding slow because they're bloated from all the biscotti and latte at Starbucks patio), easier to ticket than the sensible/mature guys on Goldwings, and easier to ticket than the guys on Harleys/customs because we have a decent Red and White presence here and patrol cops don't want to incringe on the gang unit's territory.

I took this all into account when deciding that I wanted to ride [a] naked. From the front I look like a UJM or a cruiser (handlebars, round lights) and by the time you see the side and the sportbike back I am long gone!

Your buddy should look for a pre2005 KTM 450/560 SMR supermotard: It is registarable as a streetbike and spec'd as a turnkey racebike in supermotard! Ohh, it only weighs 240lbs so will be very easy to hop curbs, ride through parks/bike paths/footbridges/buildings. Kicks the DukeII to hell. If I had $$$ I'd look into it but I'm a lowly frontline worker in the Child and Youth Care industry.

I think the key to the question is: "Once he does get his license he would have to drive it like a senior citizen, which he is not capable of doing and risk further retribution."

If that's really the case, there is no point in his keeping it. Trypcil's suggestions would be much better alternatives.

Is the suspension valid only in your state?

How about keeping the bikes, nine month's is a very short time to wait.

Try the following

1) Track days
2) As a pacifier rent a bike and Ride on another country or state.
3) Ride as a passenger to get your fix
4) Get a dirt bike to past the time
5) Clean your bike
6) Get some cool stuff for your bike
7) Get ready for next year and try staying out of trouble, believe me I know it is hard to do.
