Hi, I have a 2002 speed triple (standard apart from the pipes) and I am looking to get better performance out of it, any tips? I have been told to get a power commander and K&N from a friend
Thanks in advance

The powercommander and K&N are defo the way to go if you want to get the true perfomance of your machine.. you will need to get the bike dyno'd as well in order to set it up properly... too many people rely on the dnyojet maps... the only way to get this mod to work for you is to get it setup by a professional.
I have had a powercommander installed properly on one of my bikes and it was transformed into the bike she was supposed to be !
Not so much a boost as a enhancement !!

I know this has been done to death but you can also skip the Power Commander and look at a Tuneboy. Tuneboy can alter fuel delivery, ignition timing, customise a whole bunch of variables like when the cooling fan cuts in/out, rev limiter etc, and also has some useful looking diagnostic programmes. When I don't use my bike for a month sometimes the speedo gets stuck on zero, but the Tuneboy can clear the error code from the system and restore normal service.
Even if you don't like writing or customising tunes yourself you can download all the official Triumph tunes from the website and a few good modified ones from T595.net.
Only downside that I can see is that most dyno shops will not understand it, whereas PC is well known. If you want a full dyno setup you either need someone knowledgable to take along (seems to be quite a few on T595.net), or ask around and find a dyno shop that have used it before.
My 2003 has the Triumph Lo Level carbon can, K&N, 17 tooth front sprocket (less top speed but moer acceleration, oh yes) and I run a couple of different tunes depending on where I am going. Only takes a few minutes to load up yourself. My favourite is the PKPower tune. The difference over stock Triumph tune is amazing. The bike has instant and urgent shunt at almost any revs, is actually a bit quiter on the race pipe for reasons I don't claim to understand, and doesn't pop and backfire on the overrun (which it did on the Triumph tune). Low speed traffic filtering is also less jerky. I think it runs a bit rich on this tune but there is also a leaner tune called PKTour for better gas mileage. I also quite like a tune that the Tuneboy author created for the black widow exhaust. It is based on the Triumph tune but just slightly tweaked to deal with low speed running and tweaking the midrange a bit - its very smooth indeed.
A friend rode the bike a few weeks ago and was stunned by the engine, just heaps of grunt everywhere. Its good enough that I haven't bothered with the dyno yet, but I probably will get around to it to make sure that the dramas of running too rich or lean are attended to before it creates any problems.
It's also good enough that every time I think of upgrading to the new S3 I just go for a ride and come back thinking about saving the cash for other mods instead, like maybe Ohlins or beer.

I have 02 S3 with power commander and kn filter. I got it custom mapped and the results were awesome. I got the PC III because the dyno tuner didnt want to mess with the tuneboy. I would like the tuneboy for the diagnostic features. I got 113 hp and 69 ft lbs torque. It was 106 hp and 65 ft lbs when it went in before dyno tune. That was with powermax underseat exhaust,kn filter and triumph hi mount tune. It was running super rich and the 106 hp 65 ft lbs was for a very brief time. After dyno it was nice smooth hp and torque curves. Im bring it back for dyno tuning when wolf releases the header pipes for our bikes. Goodluck

You got 113hp and 69ft lbs with a powermax? Thats impressive for an undertail. I've got a friend who swears up and down that undertail exhausts are just a fad and you lose a lot of power when you swap to one.
Definitely go with a Tuneboy if you're the least bit into tuning and/or have a quality tech who really knows the software. The fuel mapping side of the Tuneboy software is almost identical to the Power Commander setup. I'm lucky in that a tech at my local yamahondakawazuki dealer had worked on Triumphs and Ducatis and we figured out the software pretty quickly and I got the same 113hp and 69ft lbs out of my 03 with the CF high mount TOR.
Otherwise, if you're looking to run REAL 'performance boost', check these guys out...

or these guys...
I'll probably go with a supercharger, but that probably won't be for years since I'm probably off to grad school in the fall.

It was with powermax as the previous post said. I had triumph himount on it before the powermax. I didnt have it dyno tuned with the triumph hi mount so i dont know what the #'s were. I love the sound /look of the powermax. Tell your buddy that swears up and down that my butt dyno felt the underseat was stronger than the triumph after the switch without dyno tuning.

No problem. I'd love to put all those CF goodies on my bike but I've already poured a pile of money in and should really just get some moulds made and do my own CF.

Oh, and just a performance update on my 17/45 sprocket combo. I can whip it up to 9,000-9,250 RPM with 137mph indicated QUICK! My butt dyno says something like 0-137 in 10-12 secs or so.

What is standard gearing, is it 18/45? - I have dropped to 17 on the front and like the result a lot
