1999 speed triple . keeps cutting out .turn ignition on and rev counter sits on 3000, temp gage half heat ,press ign switch or any other major source of power and rev counter hits 0 and bounces, temp gage hits the roof but no starter . absolutely fine from cold runs for 30 mins then same fault . first started on outside lane m25 doing 90 scary stuff managed to ride home but now shes dead have checked loom no joy . any ideas.

my 99' was down for a few months due to a short. It started slowly cutting out then one day...nuthin'. it turned out to be a bad ground.

my friend's '99 s3 had the exact same problem. it turned out to be a bad connection in the 'ground distribution' connector. take off the seat and tank and look for a white connector with nothing but black wires going into it. his was obvious because one of the terminal locations had turned black from the heat. i just dumped the connector and soldered all the wires together and presto the bike is as good as new.

May a good idea to add this to the troubleshooting area on this forum...It sure sounds like something I'd like to know about if I were in this situation .

When I brought the bike in after I bought it, the dealer gave me a new connector like the one you guys are describing and said "oh yeah, buy this thing" Did not complain, less than $10. The connector is bad, they have a fix, it just ain't a recall.
