I bought my first Triumph. I pick up my 2006 S3 this weekend.

I never rode beyond a cruiser. Started with an early 80`s Suzuki Intruder ...... Graduated to an 85 HD Softail ( I still own it ). I bought a 2006 HD Softail Nightrain ( Still own it ) and I love it. But ..... I still had money left over and I decided to try a few Sport Bikes ....... After months of test driving friends rides and a trip to my local Triumph dealership I did it ........... I fell in love with the S3 and bought it .... ( OK So I am spoiled ...... well ya only live once ) It is quick .... comfortable ...... classy ...... handles well ...... hell almost like a mind of it`s own ..... it will drive itself .... Maybe I am just used to sitting on those big V-Twin cruisers that make you work harder to enjoy a ride ....... I have done plenty of long trips on my HD and it never let me down but I have found something in the S3 ...... I find there is no comparison. My friends with their Kawi`s and Yamaha`s need to open their minds as I did and try an S3 chance are they will want one to ........
Now I just need to wish winter away ..... Obviously the ground hog doesn`t own a Triumph or he would have called winter off by now .............
I wish everyone here the best and i`m sure I`ll be back soon to pick up some advice and info on my new baby....... Talk to you soon ....... Mike

Congrats on the ride and the recent conversion to a whole new way of riding! You've come to the right place for tech talk, ideas of where to buy parts, and other general BS. You might also check out t595.net if you're interested in a bit more in-depth mechanical debate. The S3 definitely handles like a champ in the rain, and adverse conditions don't seem all that adverse unless the snow starts dropping.

cheers,

-Rob

Welcome and congrats on the new ride!

Now there's one more HD owner swelling the dual ownership ranks, watch out for the HD bashers!

Mick

Got both and like both for different reasons. I would not
want to take a speed boat from New York to London; I
would not want to take an ocean liner between the Bahama
Islands.

Tracker -- you just addressed my dilima of the past 6 months. I've got the new bike itch and have been vasilating over either selling my bike and getting an 06 s3 or getting a HD Night Rod. I am day to day on which direction I want to go.

One day I'm positive I want a new s3 the next has me wanting to try something different. Unfortunately I'm not at liberty to have both in the stable.

Hey Hool, I almost bought a Rod instead of my Low Rider,
but in the end I felt the Rod seemed like an over priced
rice rocket with a "Hardly" attitude. After that (2004)
I was looking to add something a little more sporting
to the stable. The R1's/GXSR's/ CB things are sporting
but kind of the same.
The Triple met one requirement of an engine you can see.
It seemed to be almost close enough to my second need
which is a deep or at least growing after market.
In my opinion, if you are still changing your mind daily you
are not ready to decide. Test rides help. Imagination of
what you want it for and what you want it to look like helped
me.

Good Luck, Tracker

I went through something similar. I was looking for a new bike in 03. I was without a bike for a few years.

I was looking at Harley's. I was thinking I should stay away from sport bikes. When I rode them I'm the past I think I pushed it a bit too much. I ended up with a Vrod. I seemed like a good compromise. I didn't like it. The motor was good but the riding position was horrible for that motor. I don't want to ride with a sportbike type motor with my feet forward and a chopped out front end.

I traded it in on a 05 road king. I really like the Road King. Its not trying to be too many different things. It handles well for a large bike, it comfortable, the wife will ride on the back, and there is a place to put your stuff.

While I like the Road King I still remember how much fun it was to ride a sport bike. After looking at almost everything available I narrowed to down to the S3 or a Tuono. I decided on the S3 for a lot of reasons. I bought a black 06.

I have that and the Road King. I think that for me its the perfect combo!
