Picked up my bike from the shop today....I'd dropped it off b/c they were to fix a scratch on the tank that wasn't there before I had it in for service back in the summer....long story, but they refused to pay for the total amount of having the tank painted b/c they say I can't prove they are the one that scratched the bike (they quoted $800 and wanted me to pay $400)...anyway, I told them they were nuts and a new tank would be cheaper...so they ordered a new tank from Triumph and I did have to pay 1/2 :???:

Anyway, they didn't end up doing anything to the bike (I told them I'd just install the tank myself b/c I wanted my bike back)....so I picked it up today and the bike was probalby dirtier than it has ever been (don't figure, I drop the bike off spotless and pick it up convered in dirt and road salt...they have to trailer the bike to their location in the burbs)...I was very unhappy but didn't feel like arguing with these guys.....ok, to get to the point, on the way home I try to honk at a cager cutting me off and the horn does not work...I checked the connections but they seem fine....I didn't check the fuse but since the indicators, etc. still work I'm guessing it's not the fuse. Any suggestions where to look?

Also, if anyone is interested in buying a tank ('02 - '04 Speed Triple - black)...one small scratch, let me know.

Thanks!

Get some WD40 into the switch could just be a little corrosion if the conections are ok. I ditched the stock horn on my bikes and fitted Stebel's from Nippy Normans to mine as many others on this site have. 136 db the cagers know I am about.

road salt + uncoated metal = corrosion, so if I was you, I would wash my bike very good

Thanks for the info.....and yes, I have no plans of ever taking my bike to that shop again....way too many bad experiences (this dirty bike being the least of them :hammer: ). I plan to wash my bike as soon as possible....it's been too cold here (below 30 most days).

I will also be fitting the new tank as soon as the weather permits (anyone know how big of a job this is...new tank is bone bare....no gas gap, fittings, etc.)

Same happened to me. Tap it with a hammer, and then see if it works.

i had a problem with the horn on mine and found out it just needed tuning!!

fiddled about with the wee nut in the centre, tightend it up a bit and the job was sorted.
