I went to Indy Triumph today to see the preview of the Daytona 675. I must say, I was impressed.
I posted this in the SuperSports forum as well, but since I'm a Speed Triple owner and rider and I am considering one of these as my second bike, I thought I would post here for you all as well.
As others have said, it is a very narrow and light bike. The ergos seems well suited to my 6 foot frame. The one thing that really stuck out to me that was a surprize, was how comfortable the stock seat seemed to be. Although it looks very thin, the padding is firm, but not stiff. The narrowness of the seat adds to the comfort, I'm sure.
The Regional Sales Rep fired the bike up and answered many questions from those assembled to get a peek. It sounds very nice even with the stock pipe.
You can see some pics that I have posted by clicking here.

It was only there for Saturday, February 4th from 2 - 5. The bike is one of 8 in the US right now and it along with the others is being shuttled from dealership to dealership to show to deposit holders and other potential customers.
Once the rounds are made, the regional rep who lives in Indianapolis may be able to bring it back to the dealership. I will post information about its return on the Indy RAT Racers listserv if and when I learn of a return visit.

I'm working at North Coast Triumph in Perrysburg, OH by Toledo now, and I've got to say the 675 is going to be a beast. If you want one, you had better get a deposit in because most dealers are sold out already. We'll be getting a demo and two more for certain. We should be able to get more, but only by non-refundable deposit. Our first bike will be arriving in March, so keep your eyes peeled. I get the feeling that this bike is going to blow away the rest of the 600 jap pack.

In case anyone in Melbourne is interested, the Peter Stevens store in the City has the new red Daytona 675 in.
I saw it last week when I stopped by to pick up some bits and pieces for my S3.

I think I called your store when I was looking for an 05 S3. The guy said I could put a non refundable deposit down for it. I said no. Why would I want to put a non refundable deposit down with you guys when I already had a refundable deposit down with someone else. Even asking for a non refundable is very questionable on thier part. If the guy doesnt pull through, then they can sell the bike to someone else. You dont have to take his money. What if he had a financial setback and couldnt get the bike? I refuse to do business with any dealership that does that.

Non-refundable deposit is a way for the buyer to not only prevent anyone else from taking the bike, it is a clear sign from a buyer that they ARE going to buy the bike AND have their finances already sorted to afford it. Why would you put a deposit down on something you cannot afford?
North Coast makes it VERY clear that the deposit is non-refundable before accepting such a deposit and holding a bike for a customer so there is ZERO confusion on the part of either party involved.
As a person on the sales floor trying to sell bikes to people who are looking to buy bikes, it would be really shoddy for someone to put a deposit down on a bike we don't have in stock, then when the bike arrives a few months later from England, ask for their deposit back and stick us with a bike we might not be able to sell... Think about it.
I'd have to talk with the owner, but if some idiotic circumstance were to occur where we would not be able to get a bike in stock to fulfill a deposit, I wouldn't be suprised if he'd hand the deposit back. Mark and the rest of the staff at North Coast are really laid back and friendly, and definitely NOT looking to screw anyone. If they were, I would not be working there.
Besides, I wouldn't be suprised if anyone on here has a story about a dealership with 'refundable' deposits where their chosen bike was sold out from under them. I hear that all the time from my friends in my local bike club trying to buy their japanese bikes. If you've got a refundable deposit but are taking a while to get your loan/cash/whatever sorted, most dealers will gladly sell a bike out from under you if someone else comes in first with the cash.

Hey kuhlka
Should a customer be able to test ride a new bike that he is keen on purchasing ,if its not a demo model that is? I wanted to test ride not too long ago and the dealer virtually said no or just stopped short of saying no. But they still pressured me or tried to into buying the bike! ha ha!

Definitely. We offer test rides all the time on the entire Triumph line and we'll have the Triumph demo truck coming out several times this year. We also arrange private demo rides for individuals who are on the verge of buying, but don't want to wait until the next scheduled demo ride to happen.
Harley is the only other dealership in the area who offers demo rides. Also, all of the demo rides are escorted, so anyone who is interested in buying one of last year's demo bikes can be reassured the bike wasn't flogged to death on the backroads by some squid.
I went down to Cincinatti yesterday with the group and checked out the V-twin dealer expo. I was suprised to find quite a few Triumph triple-related dealers looking to make connections. SO, I'll have even more stuff to offer the RAT pack and anyone else looking to order parts.
If ANYONE has had a bad experience with North Coast, feel free to drop me an email and I'll do my best to get it sorted out.

You wouldnt be suprised if he returned the money? Otherwise he may say tough luck? Well I would hope youd return the deposit if you couldnt deliver the bike. This policy may be working fine at your dealership. But most dealerships dont work this way. Until then ill shop at the other dealerships.
